24 Phossi (Extinct)
Name: Phossi
Descendant of: Thichair
Description: Like it's ancestor this sea plant builds a living internal framework similar to bone. It has two types of strands. The thicker strands are more accurately pillars, growing up to around 20mm thick and 200mm tall. In the cores of the oldest pillars mineral deposition forms a secondary non-living skeleton. The thinner strands grow out of the pillars. This stacking of thinner strands upon thicker strands gives the plant more reach to the sunlight and more surface area without compromising too much on strength and robustness. Thinner strands conjoin with neighbouring pillars giving the whole Phossi mass (from which the pillars and strands are growing) much more collective resilience in the face of strong currents and hard debris kicked up by stormy conditions.
Reproduction: It reproduces by growth and from shards during damage (which regenerate into clones) but will also often produce asexual spores released via the thinner external strands.
Food: Photosynthesis
