The Wolf King
(a.k.a. The Wolf King)
The All-Hunter. The Fair One. The Sovereign of Shrikes.
These are some of the many names ascribed to the mysterious entity most commonly known as the Wolf King. "He" is the closest thing the fairies have to a god or a leader, and like the fairies, "he" is known to make pacts with mortals. Hunters commonly pray to "him" for assistance in making their kills, but no matter what you ask "him" for, "he" must always be repaid: for hunters, this payment is typically a portion of the slain animal. But if you happen to catch "his" eye, "he" can quite often be persuaded to accept.... alternative forms of payment.
The variety of pacts "he" makes is as broad as the variety of people "he" makes said pacts with (for instance, most werewolves on Joad are the result of pacts with the Wolf King). "He" is the embodiment of mortal passions, and "he" can hand you the world on a platter if you so desire it.
But "he" always comes to collect "his" debts.
