Yu-Yu: The Beast of Silence
In fact the lanterns were out for the night and all that illuminated Morvir was the silver touch of moonlight. He walked over to the well and filled up his cup then dropped it in fear. The well, the water, the crickets, they were all silent. He ran back inside and locked all the doors and windows then sat back in his bed by his wife and watched as a shadow lumbered past the shutters. Excerpt from The Beast of Silence
Summary
A dark omen this cursed creature only shows up before instances of great tragedy. When the beast is near the area around goes completely silent even if things should be making noise. It is as if the beast has a sphere of silence around it at all times.
The beast is large, standing nearly 15 ft tall. Its body is covered in a white coarse fur and has two powerful gorilla like forearms. Its back legs are surprisingly spindly looking almost like twigs. Its face however, is wrapped in cloth with only a grotesque demon like mask showing. Dangling beneath the mask is the body of the one cursed with this beasts howl. It is positioned so that the mask appears as the victims head.
While the beast is viewed as an omen its howl is believed to be extremely dangerous as it places its curse upon those who hear it, shriveling and killing the soul of the afflicted and eventually turning them into a Yu-Yu.
Historical Basis
Sightings of the Yu-Yu first date to the early days of The Hunters Guild on Salavaria a few weeks before Huntmaster Bowin would be infected by crystolkinesis and end up wiping out the original Hunters Guild. Sightings were once again reported on the surface of Vernos before The Vernos Incident occurred.

Well known to the denizens of Salavaria, especially those within the Hunters Guild. Outside of that however it is not a widely told tale.
Variations & Mutation

Cultural Reception
To the members of the Hunters Guild this legend, while it doesnt hold much weight, is still widely told and is in the backs of hunters minds as they venture the forest close to dusk.
