Marzansin

Demographics

The majority of the population are humanoid races such as humans, genasi, elves, and orcs. There are however a smaller population of other races such as tabaxi, minotaurs, and centaurs.

Government

Marzansin is run entirely by the Hunters Guild who run the city very loosely. They dont enforce any laws or anything like that. This is not to say they dont care since the guild is very passionate about Marzansin, they just choose to run the city as a sort of free state with minimal government interference. They believe that the only thing that the government should do is to protect the people who call the city home.

Defences

A tall stone wall about 20ft high surrounds the city and connects with the mountain that houses the Library of Lumenarres. The gate is wrought iron and under a rotational guard at all hours of the day. There are also watchers from who stand guard on the wall in rotations as well in teams of two. All people who defend the city are members of the Hunters Guild who in addition to those jobs they also patrol the streets and keep an eye out for trouble.

Industry & Trade

Marzansin has a mutualistic relationship with the Library of Lumenarres in that they provide defense to the mountain path that leads up to the Library and the library provides them with supplies necessary to keep afloat. The inhabitants of the city use these supplies to craft various goods and weapons for the Hunters Guild and visiting hunters from across the galaxy. The guild then uses these weapons to defend the city and hunt big game which helps feed the city and are also sometimes sold for extra coin to collectors and passing traders. The city also makes a portion of its income off of contracts for certain animal pelts and parts that wizards and other researchers of the Library of Lumenarres may need.

Infrastructure

Marzansin is simpler than the larger cities like those on Citalia. There are small motorbikes that one uses to get around and the streets are cobblestone to give a very intimate connection to the city. There are no streetlights at night to prevent light pollution and home lighting is kept to a minimum. On the outskirts of the city lies the farms and fisheries that provide the stable food source of the city.

History

Marzansin was originally built 200 years before the beginning of the Age of Exploration. The city was founded by the original Hunters Guild of the planet. They formed the alliance with the already established Library of Lumenarres and with the library agreeing upon the need for protection on their mountain pass assists in whichever way they can to help build the city. Many years pass and in the year 65 GA the inhabitants of the city inexplicably disappeared. Scouts from the library attempted to discover the cause of the disappearance but very few clues were present. All they could find was evidence of a celebration about to take place to crown a new Huntmaster. Based on rumors that the librarians heard from the forest floor a man named Bowin was supposed to take that mantel. During this time the Library was left defenseless and the paladins of Voxia arrived to take over the job of protecting the mountain path from the beasts of the forest floor. Many centuries later in the year 1215 AW the surrounding tribes of people united under the calling of a minotaur named Grunn who spearheaded the effort to rebuild this once great guild. Like it was before the Library was happy to help rebuild the city and under the leadership of Huntmaster Grunn the relationship between the two cities and the success of the city have never been better.

Architecture

The buildings of Marzansin are all built with this grey adobe material with different wooden accents to make each house unique in its own way.

Geography

Marzansin lies at the bottom of the mountain that houses the Library of Lumenarres. When looking at the town from overhead the city is in the shape of a semi-circle with the mountain to the north and forms the flat piece of this semi-circle. Directly south of the city lies a small strip of grass that runs parallel to a river and leads out into a larger open grassland encircled by the forest that stretches out on the east and west of Marzansin. Within the southwardly strip of grassland lies all the farms and fisheries. To the northeast along the mountain is a small mine which remains as a remnant of early Marzansin construction. It is still used on occasion to mine the metals for the city craftsmen but it is largely empty at this time in history.
