The RedZone

The great stillness and emptiness of the RedZone coupled with the massive Dreadnaught's in flying above could lead one to conclude that this alien and hostile realm may be less of a prison for its inhabitants than the Voxian Church preaches. It is almost peaceful in here. - Head Steward Vazian, 21 AE

Geography

Geography: The RedZone is less of a landscape and more of an open space, separated by the energy field that forms the outer layer of the RedZone. The same layer that keeps whats inside from getting out into the galaxy to cause chaos among its denizens. Inside the RedZone the sky and space is red, due entirely to its hellish landscape and the Dorgonian rich "atmosphere". The RedZone also doesnt have any solid land in the traditional sense but instead has floating rocks and islands that are chained together to form floating land masses. As for the size of the RedZone it is the biggest object in the galaxy and can be viewed from almost every planet in the galaxy at about the size of half a moon.   History: Discovered by Commander Jack Sun of the Voxian-Salavaria Federation (VSF) in 9 AE, The RedZone has always been a quiet and ever looming threat. Before its discovery it was always viewed as possibly a close star or planet since it is such a prominent feature in every planets night sky. But after Jack Sun's encounter this view was quickly shattered as the horrifying truth came to realization, the red planet they saw in the sky was actually an orb that contained every foul monster and demon that they have fought and wrote stories about in the past. After his encounter, Jack Sun returned to the VSF space station to request funds to create a force that would watch the RedZone and exterminate every creature that exited the red behemoth. This was approved by the VSF and construction began immediately and finished 3 years later in 12 AE. During this time Voxians and Salavarians both struggled to explain this new discovery that defied all faith and science. The Voxian Church was quick to adopt it into their religion claiming that their gods used their life force and energy to trap all evil creatures into one area so that the people of the galaxy could be safer. The more scientific minded scholars of Lumenarres decided to go on trips with Jack Sun and the other builders of Redwatch station to better understand what the RedZone actually is. According to their tests the outer layer seemed to be comprised of a solid energy of unknown type (Voxians insist this is Radiant energy). The energy, while solid, has a slight give to it like rubber. The scientists also discovered that this energy could be dispelled, temporarily, with a low vibrational frequency. This discovery was later used in the construction of The Dread Gate that allows Jaxxian people to cross into the RedZone. The Dread Gate was first proposed to the VSF by the Lumenarren members as a way to allow greater study of the RedZone in 15 AE. After a lengthy debate and agreement upon certain safety measures the construction began. The Dread Gate was built in 20 AE and the first Lumenarren scholars led by Vazian the Head Steward of the library, Kenku scouts, and RedZone officers led by Jack Sun entered the RedZone. Inside they encountered surprisingly nothing, much to the shock of everyone in the parties anticipation of leagues of demons waiting to kill them. Instead they only found floating islands, Dorgonian gas, and catalogued large worm creatures known as Astral Dreadnaught's.This isnt to say they didnt run into demons, they ran into several and the fighting was intense. It simply wasnt as most would predict. Head Steward Vazian famously wrote   The great stillness and emptiness of the RedZone coupled with the massive Dreadnaught's in flying above could lead one to conclude that this alien and hostile realm may be less of a prison for its inhabitants than the Voxian Church preaches. It is almost peaceful in here.   They returned with samples of Kernon found in the floating islands and Dorgonian gas which was later tested then catalogued by the Lumenarres Library. The expeditions inside the RedZone remained few as it was discovered that Dorgon is actually harmful to biological life in its gaseous form, and when opening The Dread Gate a significant amount is released into Jaxxian space. The Dread Gate was officially shut down in 49 AE when the Parsalis Doctrine was passed by the VSF. While the Parsalis Doctrine was nullified in 90 GA when the Galactic Council ruled that Parsalis was to be used as a prison planet, The Dread Gate did not reopen for a few hundred years. For the next few hundred years things carried on as it was before The Dread Gate and expeditions into the RedZone, with the Redwatch keeping a close eye on it and actually setting up more outposts around its perimeter. The most famous being Outpost 5 due to its part in the war which will be touched on later. These outposts became invaluable in maintaining the Redwatches original purpose as over the years the Redwatch gained power in the political theatre shifting over to their current secondary role as the Galactic police. In 510 GA though, The Redwatch had become lax in their duties to the RedZone with their commitment to enforcing Council law and setting up galactic defenses after the invasion in 74 GA from The Beyond. This inattentiveness was the opening the demons were waiting for. More specifically, what Zorg Demon prince and 9th born of Urolog was waiting for. The demons tore through Redwatch defenses destroying Outpost 2 near Parsalis. Parsalis was the first and only planet hit by Zorg's attack as the criminal group known as The Waste Kings fought back against the hordes of demons until Redwatch officers arrived to assist. With the combined efforts of both groups Zorg was defeated and killed, his demon army fleeing back to the RedZone. The Waste Kings would've been praised as heroes that day and likely been allowed to return to society if they hadnt after the fight immedietly try and kill Redwatch officers to steal their ships. As such history rarely reflects the part the Waste Kings had played in Zorgs Invasion, with the Redwatch taking full glory. It was also during the aftermath of this fight that the Scholars of Lumenarres learned why they hadnt seen as many demons as predicted during their expeditions. During the attack it was observed that the Astral Dreadnaught's carried the demons in pocket dimensions that are accessed through the gullet of the Dreadnaught's. Whether they just sit in there or have great cities is still unknown however. After this attack the attention of the Redwatch and Galactic Council was once more centered on The RedZone. For a few decades the fear of the RedZone was reinvigorated, but in 535 GA Redwatch Commander Harkun and ambassadors from Rashuldvia, Salavaria, and Zakatash brought forth the idea of reopening The Dread Gate, with new safety measures to limit Dorgon leakage, to enact raids on demons ands their cities so that they could never acquire the force or stability to launch another attack like that again. The measure was approved with only the Voxian ambassador and Vernosian dwarves and Molefolk ambassadors rejecting the idea. The Dread Gate was then reopened with the Redwatch undergoing several raids on a monthly basis into the RedZone. With that the RedZone once again fell into the background when 500 years later the Citalian-Rashuldvian Civil war dominated the minds and concerns of the people of the Jaxxian Galaxy. While the Redwatch took no sides in the war the same could not be said for their outposts. Outpost 5 sided with Citalia and their promise for better tech to fight the demons of the RedZone. Outpost 5 became a strong strategic foothold due to its position near Rashuldvia and specialized in extracting Dorgonian Gas from the RedZone to be used in chemical warfare against the Rashuldvian people. After the war Outpost 5 officers were punished and extraction Dorgonian gas was banned by the Galactic Council in 1205 after they passed the Resource Mining and Collection Prohibition banning any resource harvesting from the RedZone for any use other than scientific endeavors. Now the RedZone sits ever silent and ominous in the center of our galaxy. Over the years less and less demons are escaping the RedZone begging the question, have we almost killed all the demons and monsters in there? Or are they just preparing a force to rival that of Zorgs. Time will tell.

Fauna & Flora

People: No people could ever survive in the RedZone without a proper oxygen supply due to the poisonous nature of Dorgonian Gas. Any humanoid creature in the RedZone is most assuredly a demon in disguise.   Animals: There are no animals here in the RedZone only demons and monsters. Which I guess some monsters could be viewed as animals or pets to demons such as Hellhounds and other beastly monsters.   Plants: N/A

Natural Resources

It is illegal to harvest any resource from the Redzone due to the Resource Mining and Collection Prohibition of 1205 PW. Thought the resources collected for the Scientific endeavors of Brune and Salavaria include Dorgon and Abyssal Kernon.
