Parsalis (Par-saul-iss)

He stared down the incoming horde of Waste Kings and his fallen orc companion. He would die if he didn't go back for him, but if he did he might just die with the orc. And so he ran. -Excerpt from the Chronicles of Bor a popular book in the future.

Geography

Parsalis is a desert planet like T'salizar, only worse. Parsalis lies just on the edge of the RedZones atmosphere and so any demon that gets through on occasion usually ends up on Parsalis. The landscape is bleak but it has its own beauty to it. There are huge stretches of pure sand dunes that rise above even the tallest of beasts. There are canyons where water ran once before which indicates that this planet may not have always been a desert. The temperatures on Parsalis rarely dip below triple digits during the day and at night. Parsalis has been noted to also have sand storms so large that they can and have reached into outer space. This has led to a small field of sand trapped in orbit around the planet.

Localized Phenomena

Parsalis can boast to being the planet with the most rare weather phenomena. Specifically the Lightning Sandstorm. A powerful expansive sandstorm that stretches for miles in all directions violently spinning and moving like a hurricane and in the center is a contained ball of energy. This energy ball then ruptures out in lighting strikes giving the impression of an electric spider crawling across the desert dunes.

Fauna & Flora

People: The harsh and dangerous living conditions on Parsalis make it dangerous to live on. As such there are no native humanoid species. However, all species can be found there since Parsalis is a prison planet. To keep down on costs on some form of prison system the Galactic Council decided that incarcerated individuals and convicted criminals will be exiled to Parsalis. While it would be possible to live there it is not expected that you would.   Animals: Parsalis is home mostly to monsters or other predatory creatures. Due to the proximity of The RedZone it is common to see some form of hideous demon or monster roaming the sand dunes. Creatures are more aggressive here than in other places. It is theorized that this is due to demonic possession of the beasts or the waves of negative energy that come from The RedZone. It has been noted that the demonic entity known as a Moth Wraith appears to only live on Parsalis. While for most demons who escape the RedZone Parsalis is just a pitstop to find a human host and then leave the planet. For Moth Wraiths however they seem to enjoy the planet and usually set up nests on the sides of canyons.   Plants: The only plants that grow on Parsalis are cacti and succulents. All other plants will whither and die in the heat or get trampled by rampaging beasts.

Natural Resources

Due to the harsh climate and inherent dangers of Parsalis nothing is exported from the planet. While it does have strong metals that are good for forging, those metals are used only by the Waste Kings.

History

Discovered in 40 AE by a squad of Redwatch officers chasing a gang of space pirates, Parsalis has always been known to the galaxy as the most hostile of all the planets. With raging temperatures, dangerous weather, limited water, roaming desert gangs, and of course demons. Due to its inherent dangers one of the last laws implemented before the disbandment of the VSF (Voxian-Salavaria Federation) was the Parsalis Doctrine in 49 AE. This law prohibited travel to or near the planet in order to prevent death and accident as well hopefully preventing demons from finding human hosts. Of course this only led to pirates and other criminals sneaking on the planet to avoid law agencies and build illegal bases and drug farms. Then in 88 GA The Galactic Council discussed the idea that Parsalis should be used to house prisoners instead of building prisons on their own planets. This venture was approved in 90 GA and responsibility for prisoner transfer and wardenship was given to the Redwatch. It was assumed that nobody would survive long on Parsalis when they were incarcerated there and this was true. Only the toughest and craftiest would survive, which as it turned out there weren't many criminals like that. However, by 313 GA about 20 prisoners who have been surviving on the planet got together and created a small society. This society would be called The Waste Kings and their new base would be called Stormfront. It was tough going at first since none of the prisoners were sociable in any means but they understood the value of staying together. This would aid them well in 510 GA when the first RedZone rupture was ever recorded. An army of demons managed to crawl through the RedZone led by demon prince Zorg. Parsalis was the demons first stop as they attempted to possess members of The Waste Kings. The Waste Kings managed to send out a distress signal and fight back until The RedWatch could arrive. After a long and brutal battle the combination of the two forces managed to defeat the army and kill Zorg, the first time anyone had ever killed a demon prince in all of history. The Waste Kings would've been hailed as heroes that day if after the battle they hadn't tried to kill the few Redwatch officers alive and steal their ship to leave the planet. The last remaining Waste King members were gunned down or executed by Redwatch officers. After a couple hundred years Parsalis was filled with war prisoners from the CR Civil war and like before only the hardest and toughest prisoners would survive. In 1185 EW those prisoners would find Stormfront and reclaim the name of Waste Kings.
