Biphant

Among the largest herbivores in Uspa, if not outright the largest, the biphant's sheer size and large population makes them a critical prey species for both humans and dragons. This is not without risk, however, as biphants are unafraid of using their large size, heavy heads, and horns to defend themselves against perceived threats.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Large and heavy-bodied quadrupedal animals, biphants have big torsos with long mostly straight legs. Their feet are stumpy, with large hoof-like nails, and their thin tails end in a tuft of hair. Their bodies are mostly hairless, but thick fur covers the front of the body, including forelegs and head. They possess a big hump at their shoulders, formed by their massive neck muscles, which support their large and heavy heads.   Biphants have solid skulls, used regularly to headbutt threats. For this purpose they also possess curved horns, pointing upwards. Their long trunks are mobile and can easily be held out of the way while fighting, and their big but thin ears are located far enough back that they face little danger. It's not uncommon to see biphants with ripped ears, however. Their eyes are small, and eyesight poor.   Male biphants are significantly larger than females, and possess big tusks. Females have no or small tusks.
