Tempest Range

An indomitable mountain range that reaches far throughout the continent of Valamar is known for generating terrible storms that could destroy entire kingdoms.
This mountain range makes up a large portion of the northern area of the continent of Valamar and is known for the tall mountains and winding passages that connect the western side of the continent to the eastern side. The interior is nearly impossible to live in due to the intense Thunderstorms that occur within them. The few communities that do exist in the interior are built into the sides of the mountains or deep within them. There are only 7 days a year of clear weather but that is deceptive as it is just an eye of a storm as the storms never really end.
The pounding rain wears away the mountains taking a small handful of gravel with each drop and mix with other dirt to make the few passages and pathways slippery. On the narrow portions of these roadways are even more dangerous forcing a group to travel even more slowly. This presents even more dangers though as lightning is also constantly striking the side of the mountains, and it is often attracted to travelers and there have been many who have perished to the bolts. 
This is not even the worse danger for if the lightning does not strike you dead the bolts will often cause landslides which leave travelers buried alive. If none of those kill you then the range is filled with many dangerous creatures of kobolds and behirs. there are also many other creatures here but some are thought of to be urban legends as well. Those few merchants who are able to brave this region often bring exotic goods, and can find good money if they are able to live to make it.
