First Tongue

It is believe among many historical circles and wizard schools that their use to be a singular language that all the races of the world spoke before some unknown event divide the world into its many tongues. 
The First Tongue as it is called is believed to the be source of both the power of arcane words, allowed one to instantly call upon the power of the gods, and let a individual understand the emotions and thoughts of another. There is no strong evidence to support this outside of common root words found when tracing the ever evolving languages of all the different races.
Linguists believe that if they are able to go back far enough in all the languages they will be able to recreate the First Tongue and achieve all that has been mentioned. There are some tablets that led them to believe that this is true but the tablets themselves are highly fragmented and leave too much open interruptation of what the First Tongue really was. 
This feeds into the idea that all the races came from one singular race but due to events from the gods, magic, and the environment that all the races developed to where they are now and in their tongue each carries traces of the First Tongue. What else is known about the first tongue is the letter system is different than any other that is in use today using a system of lines and triangles that hardly match modern letters today. 
The very words that have been translated are Dragons, Gods, Tower, Waters, and First. 
This has led to speculation that something occurred between the Dragons and the Gods that lead to the breaking of the First People and the First Tongue but no dragon has been fourth coming in discussing an event so far back.
