Zalaia Agatha Dahl

Zalaia Dahl is a healer (link) and apothecary who runs her business of medical care out of her home (link). As a water-kin (link to dragon-kin) she has a natural aptitude for healing magic(link), further advanced by her many decades of study. 
Though as a dragon-kin, one of her most striking features are her rich blue draconic wings, she often keeps them concealed within a red velvet cloak that serves as protection against both cold and magic. She has heavily enchanted it to ward her well. Underneath the cloak, she usually wears a simple skirt and shirt of homespun white. She can almost always be seen with a leather satchel in which she keeps access to simple supplies that she might need when out and about.
Her demeanor is gentle and demure, and she offers a comforting presence and bedside manner to patients and loved ones alike. Those who come to her door find it open to all, no matter their situation or deeds, for she holds her home up as a neutral zone, and will strictly enforce kindness and pacifism within her walls, even between enemies. No matter the time of day, those who find themselves on her doorstep will be offered food and rest, and what aid she can offer.
In exchange for her service, while monetary reimbursement is permitted, she far prefers people to offer something else as payment, whether that be labor, products, or perhaps even knowledge. She has little need for coin, as nearly everything she needs is something she trades for, whether that's an herbal tea blend to Rosabelle, a farmer's wife, in exchange for milk and eggs, or a batch of wild honey every year in exchange for bundles of cloth that she can use to make new clothes with. Her hands are never still.

History

Amber was left on the doorstep of Zalaia's cozy little house, a newborn of only a few days at most. Zalaia immediately took to the child left to her and adopted her as her own. Growing up, Amber had a somewhat strained relationship with her adopted mother, being of a dramatic and stubborn temperament against an equally firm minded, experienced adult. As Amber reached adulthood, married, and had her own children, she became a much more settled person with her personality, relaxing and strengthening the bond between herself and her mother.

History

Max and Zalaia met in adulthood through their relationships with other mutual friends. Max is close friends and the coworker of Olivia Spencer and Sierra Ayrie. Zalaia knew Olivia through being the midwife attending to the birth of Olivia's firstborn daughter (Trinity), and she met Sierra through Olivia, though these relationships bloomed more heavily when Zane and Sierra became more involved with each other, as Zalaia and Zane were close friends from hundreds of years prior.
It was roughly around the time of Basil's appearance and the start of 'the journey to save Issolum' that Zalaia and Max began to feel a mutual connection to each other, and soon began dating. Max assisted Zalaia with her surprise pregnancy (a child conceived from Draxtonus Narhethiar during a particularly hard/dark time for the dragon-kin woman), and quickly became a father figure for the newly acquired baby Amber. Their love, fondness, and trust for each other only grew and deepened as time went on. It was several years after dating and living together that an 'impatient' Zalaia proposed to Max (he was worried about springing such a thing on a woman who is slow to change and not keen on surprises, and rightfully so, but to Zalaia it felt as if he were being abnormally slow and took matters into her own hands). Together, they have raised a very blended family and continue adding to it throughout the passing years.

Max to Zalaia: Zali, Doll Zalaia, struggling with her tendency to use 'full names' for others, will call him 'Maximilian' or 'Maximus' occasionally, despite his full name being nothing more than Max.

Max has shared a bit of his past with Zalaia, including his shady, thieving parents, as well as the fact that he and his older brother were used to aid in the theft projects of their parents... Zalaia has divulged more of her past to him than she has to most, including such events as the duration and end of her relationship with her first ever lover, the birth and death of her firstborn son, and many painful happenings that come from living for hundreds of years. She has also pulled off her glamour for him to see the scars she hides so desperately and painfully.
