The first ruler's son, Prince Iakovos, became King, after marrying his lover, Nefeli, a merchant at the time. With the two rulers, they rebuilt to what the islands are today by using their wind magic to lift up the islands in the sky.

With the two rulers, they rebuilt to what the islands are today by using their wind magic to lift up the islands in the sky.   They hoped that no one would go to war with them again, nor go to war with others, since they were so high up. This went according to plan, and caused more equines to visit rather than wanting to go to war with the newly proclaimed land, Volatilis. Due to not many equines gifted with pegasi at the time who traveled to the islands, portals were built.   High rankers and those with wings didn't agree to them at first and a spell was quickly dealt with by a request of the King and Queen for the portals to casted by a neighboring nation of fire that had equines that could wield lightning magic. If anyone should attack them, it would give a devastating shock that could put even the toughest of equines into a coma.   The King and Queen had a long reign until they died due to health in old age: the King going first while the Queen going three years later after ruling by herself.
