The Division of Erudian Magic and Ellavarian Magic

Long ago when the Ellavara were still gaining their roots in magic for they were of the earlier Telkish bloodline so magic was very much a new concept. For about a hundred years, the Ellavara were busy adapting to this magic that was born from the Dryads themselves. But then a shift began to happen. The magic that was once simple in its nature, using natural borne materials from the land of Islemaria, was now more sterilized and complex. While this magic had the ability to do more than the magic beforehand did, it cost more of the individual and it was a feat to understand such a system. As fate would have it, more and more Ellavara went to this more civilized magic and very well away from this "wild" magic. Wild magic, also known as Erudian, was deemed unclean and ancient. Some worried that this would drive the Dryads to anger because the Ellavara looked upon their gift with such disdain. But the Dryads seemed to not to be bothered with it. For the thinking was, with the ones who preferred the newer form of magic, that this turn of events was sanctioned by the Dryads. After all these creatures were beings that were for change and evolution.

Erudian magic was then only practiced by the nomads and Kavs. Ellavarian Magic is the only academic study of magic.

In Literature

There of course is a massive series of books on Ellavarian magic, the popular one being The Many Innovations of Ellavarian Magic. While there are a few, and very rare, books covering wild magic. But there is hope, for there is word that a magic collector could get their hands on such a tome that is a complete account of wild magic. This sought after tome is called The Lost Illusions but it has never been seen and is said to be just a legend.
