Nuva

"Chosen by the Gods, may the wisdom of your predecessors guide you"

The position of Nuva is one of the greatest honors, and responsibility, a Felvithar can achieve. As the elected ruler of Norrim the Nuva holds the greatest political power and can have immense influence on the culture, and future, of Norrim and its people. It is a deeply respected and sacred position and it is expected of those that wear the crown to uphold and exemplify the ideals of the Snow Elves.

Qualifications

Chosen by the Nuvian Council, a council of Norrim's most influential nobles, the Nuva must be a politically experienced individual who has proven through action that they hold the Felvithar's best interests at heart and are capable of ensuring the safety and prosperity of the province. While not explicitly stated. the Nuva can be selected from any of the castes, except the casteless, but they are typically chosen from the Nuvua caste which consists of Norrim's nobility.

Requirements

The Nuva must be a Felvithar native born to Norrim. They must also be at least sixty years in age (due to the elves extended lifespans sixty years to an elf is roughly thirty years in human terms), though in times of need this rule may be ignored.

Appointment

Through a majority vote among the Nuvian Council a new Nuva is appointed. The appointees position is solidified on The Day of Crowning, a festive and transitional day in which the Felvithar celebrate and welcome their new ruler.

Duties

The Nuva is tasked with ensuring the order and prosperity of Norrim, leading in times of war, and maintain/form positive relations with other nations.

Benefits

This position is afforded the most political power in Norrim, as such they have great sway on Norrim's laws, faith, and, in some cases, culture. The Nuva is also moved to the Silver-White castle, a pristine and elegant keep worthy of nobility and also serves as their seat of power. Unlike most rulers of ancient and modern times the Nuva isn't afforded a massive wealth, instead it is customary for Nuvas to redistribute wealth/taxes where it is needed most.

Accoutrements & Equipment

The attire of the Nuva is personal but is elegant and regal, befitting of a ruler. The Silver-White Crown however, is required. This crown, forged of silver and adorned with Absolute Ice, is the true symbol of Felvithar power and is a most sacred artifact. The crown is also able to change its form, said to match that of the wearer's personality.

Grounds for Removal/Dismissal

While extremely rare, there are a handful of Nuvas that have been uncrowned. Acts such as treason by aiding hostile entities, worship or collusion with The Void, poor leadership resulting in a weakened state, and/or heretical acts are some grounds for a Nuva to be uncrowned. For a Nuva to be officially dismissed a motion must be put forward by a Nuvian Councilor and if there is a majority voted the Nuva is removed and a new one must be selected.
