Norrim
"The land of the everfrost"
Norrim, the homeland of the Felvithar, is a vast province home to breathtaking mountains and towering forests. However, this beauty is guarded by Norrim's more unwelcoming environment. Freezing winds, blizzards, mountains that pierce the skies, and ferocious wildlife all serve to make Norrim a hostile place but for those brave, or determined, enough to overcome such challenges will find a paradise of ice and snow.
Geography
Norrim is home to vast taigas which constitute most of its landmass, with tundras blanketing the regions farthest to the north and some more temperate forests along the southern border. This province is also renowned for its sky piercing mountain/mountain ranges that dot the lands.
Most of Norrim's northern coast touches the perilous Sea of Ghosts, which connects Teldara to the northernmost continent of Amdor. its western coast connects with the beautiful Amber-Gold Sea, which connects to the archipelago of Madura.
Localized Phenomena
During snow storms/blizzards Arcana can accumulate to a worrying degree. When such an event does occur the Arcana interacts with the natural forming ice to create sharp, jagged magically infused ice that shreds through whatever is unfortunate enough to be in its path. Generally when Arcana interacts with weather formations they are known as Arcana Storms.
Natural Resources
Norrim's most influential resource is Absolute Ice, a fairly rare and extremely potent material. When Arcana is trapped within ice the process leading to Absolute Ice begins. If the Arcana remains trapped undisturbed the two will fuse resulting in this magically enchanted ice. How long it takes to complete the process is unknown but some speculate it could take several decades if not centuries. This resource has numerous applications from armor, to weapons, and even fine adornments.
Aside from this Norrim holds the typical resources found across Iskara, including but not limited to: timber, mineral ores, medicinal and alchemical reagents, and livestock.
History
Little is known of Norrim prior to the Age of Divinity except that is was the seat of power for the ancient Felvithar and enjoyed a golden age of unrivaled prosperity much like the rest of Iskara. This golden age would come to an end with the invasion by the forces of The Void known as the Incursion, an event of near apocalyptic proportions. Fortunately Norrim did not face the brunt of the attack and was spared from the greatest of horrors but much was ruined and the damage done to history was unfathomable. This event was compounded by the violent arrival of the Avar clans, humans from the northern continent of Amdor. Among the clans were refugees seeking safe harbor from the destruction of the Incursion but most were opportunists seeking to take advantage of a weakened world. Regardless, the Avar pushed the Felvithar westward and much of eastern Norrim was lost to the Avar. The Felvithar would maintain much of their original land, in spite of several conflicts, religious upheaval, and internal strife, and over the centuries would begin to truly rebuild.
Tourism
Most of those who travel to Norrim are merchants and/or scholars. As one might expect merchants seek new trade routes and opportunities to expand profits, which is a bit more difficult due to the harsher environment and the Felvithar's general indifference to the merchant class. Scholars seek to understand the Felvithar and their culture, delve ancient ruins, and unlock the secrets Norrim holds.
General tourists visit to the awe inspiring vistas, mountain ranges, and the beautifully constructed cities of Norrim. Interestingly, Norrim is a fairly common destination for traveling Osterons looking for their next source of inspiration and creativity.
