Crommel

God of Craftsmen, the Forge & Father of the Dwarves

Crommel is a widely known and respected god both among mortals and his own peers with an association for craftsmanship, weaponry, and intellect. Stories often place him as a rival of Dern and a close ally of Kallex, he is the one that creates the armaments of the other Pantheons and takes pride in the creation of divine relics with varying purposes. Crommel belongs to two separate pantheons, the Pantheon of War and the Pantheon of Knowledge. While his strongest identity is in the Pantheon of War he is known as the god of Dwarves, not only responsible for their creation but also in granting them the ability to shape metals that other species are incapable of working. Crommel's form is understood to be consistent and he is depicted as a stout Dwarf with a powerful build though comparable in size to Dern as a Dwarf is to a Human. This god is often depicted with a great hammer and tongs in hand, a robust and braided beard, and an anvil that is ever-sparking and smoking with the energy of his creation. Many depictions show him in full armor or with great goblets of drink in hand but never is he shown without his implement of creation and the holy symbol to all Dwarves, the Celestial Hammer.   His tenets and standards involve innovation, loyalty, hard work, and patience with a desire to grow and improve continually. The personality of Crommel can best be learned by living among the Dwarves who he fashioned from the earth with great care and to whom he passed on a love of all things involving the forge. Those that worship Crommel are primarily Dwarves but architects, blacksmiths, sculptors, linguists, and those that pursue hard sciences are often found among his followers. He is considered the god of the forge first and foremost and stands as a comfort for those that go into battle knowing that they may rely upon their sword to cleave, their shield to stand firm, and their armor to hold against the inferior weapons of the enemy.

Divine Domains

Crommel is involved in two different domains, his identity in both of them has been long-standing since the formation of the Pantheons, and both place emphasis on his intellect. Those that worship Crommel will venerate him as a god of the forge, of innovation, or of knowledge often beseeching him during blacksmithing as a form of prayer and worship. Crommel is often approached for blessing or inspiration though the distinction is that only hard work and perseverance will be rewarded, in this respect he is the god of choice for the working man.

War

Crommel is considered to be a primary god within the Pantheon of War because of his involvement in the forging of metals and creation of most weapons. When it comes to aspects of war, his influence extends into weaponry, preparations, tactics, battle plans, and defenses built to last an assault. When it comes to war, he is the god of the prepared soldier that seeks to cautiously survive the battle while protecting both comrades and his homeland. Crommel's focus is based on how a war can be won before it is fought, what the mind and long hours of preparation can do both before and during the effort of the war in order to ensure its success.

Knowledge

Crommel is considered to be a supporting god in the Pantheon of Knowledge because of his vast knowledge of craftsmanship and aptitude for the creation of things beyond weapons and armor. When it comes to aspects of the knowledge pantheon, his influence extends to the creation of physical objects, design, and also the various scripts that were created for languages by the Dwarves. Crommel views knowledge as a by-product of experience, formal education, and long-standing effort that cannot be obtained easily however he despises the idea of using knowledge to look down upon others. When it comes to knowledge, his focus is on continual improvement and the eventual teaching of others through apprenticeship.

Holy Books & Codes

The religious text of Crommel is called the Great Anvil, a text that is full of blueprints and detailed instructions of many things sacred to the Dwarves. It contains measurements, mathematics, thoughts on mining, the forging and creation of alloys, and the thoughts of Crommel as he writes each topic. These passages contain an uncanny amount of moral wisdom, encouragement, counsel, and knowledge in the format of a Master Dwarf that is speaking to his student as they go about working. In particular, one of the most sacred passages to the Dwarves is on the mining, forging, and uses of adamantite which they alone are able to perform. The passage explains this phenomenon as a byproduct of the metal not being willing to yield to any of Crommel's kin. Despite anyone being able to read the text and follow the instructions, there appears to be more to several of the passages than just the mathematics and technique, to a true craftsman, these pages entail inspiration and communication an emotion that can only be known through great effort.

Divine Symbols & Sigils

The primary symbol of Cromel is the hammer studded with a single gem in the center as it sparks a large anvil. Often these symbols are depicted simply as silhouettes on a black surface but in the Dwarven Kingdom they are fashioned from several types of mystical metals and the gem set in the center of the hammer is always depicted as a ruby. The anvil is worn and weathered, sometimes being depicted using an actual work-worn anvil from a local smith while the hammer is always depicted as pristine. It is said that Crommel's Celestial Hammer is made of an unknown material that is impervious to change but capable of changing all that it touches for the better.

Holidays

The holiday dedicated to Crommel is the last day of Summer's Evening, this is celebrated grandly among the Dwarves and modestly in many countries across Isekai where craftsmanship is prized. Those that participate in this holiday begin it at midnight, rising early or forgoing sleep to strike up the forge or light warm fires and have grand feasts through the night, into the morning, and cease the workday at noon to spend time with loved ones and rest. Regardless of living in towns or in solidarity, it is a time for work to be done that your heart truly follows. New projects will be completed or year-long projects will be finished, relics completed on this day that truly please Crommel have been known to gain special properties when created by master craftsmen in various professions. This holiday is popular among blacksmiths, masons, and carpenters as a time of new beginnings or great accomplishments.

Tenets of Faith

Crommel's favor is not earned by rituals or observances but rather by living a life of dedication and hard work. Aspirations that have a clear way forward or that are painstakingly sought out are the things that he favors the most. Above all, he rewards creativity, longsuffering, and patience.   Accept nothing quickly, toil away the hours with the satisfaction of your approaching reward.   Disregard those that take the easier path, for theirs is a fragile moment that can be washed away with a passing storm.   Build up for yourself grand accomplishments, strong armaments, solid gates, and you will be a cornerstone to those around you.   Sloth and idle moments without thanksgiving are the downfalls of both warrior and builder alike, they soon fall into obscurity and amount to nothing.
