Personality
A tiefling woman in her late 20s/early 30s with a crew who fears her and her infernal temper. Mostly controls people with bribery, threats, and a focus on manipulative magic:"As pirates, we all speak one similar language....gold. Of course....we have other ways of communicating....."holds a sword up to the person's throat She tries to hit things on multiple fronts if possible, but works hard to ensure that she always has a way out. She has yet to be pinned by any organization, with many a rival group finding themselves standing, swords drawn, in an empty warehouse sure that Kaillista's crew was supposed to be there:
"At least 2 ways in, and always a way out."

Personal history
Kallista never knew her parents, but she did know her grandfather. When she asked about them he only replied "what that devil did to your mother was awful, and it's only for her memory that I don't throw you out to the crows!" There was no love in her household between her and her grandfather, Nobin Voss. He never even told Kallista her mother's name. He deeply hated the devil in her, and anytime she would misbehave would try to "beat the righteousness" into her. Her only companion at this time was a tiefling urchin named Errias whom she'd sneak out to share what little food she could get with. When she'd get back, Nobin would whip her, and she to this day feels an intense rage and anger bordering on berserk when she sees someone wielding a whip. He'd then make her sleep in a small closet, which has given her a case of claustrophobia to this day. She's fine in a normal room, but a cage or closet will cause her to panic.
Eventually, as her magical gifts began to manifest, she found herself in a situation to make it look..with a bit of charming, like Nobin had killed a man. And in the influenced struggle that ensued he was killed. She felt free until moments later she realized she'd be forced into a foster situation. This time she vowed to make it work for her, not against her and she schemed. Her new foster parents were not good people either, they only took a child to keep up an appearance. Zon-Ze and Arisa Lichuehk, her new foster parents, were involved in smuggling and black market dealings. She was able to sneak into their documents and find proof, beginning a blackmail and manipulation chain that would eventually have them unhappily working for her.
Kallista used her influence over her foster parents to start her own black market dealings in Waterdeep. As she began to come into money, she still worked with Errias, who had now become her partner. His knowledge of the streets and underworld, and ability to stay unnoticed was invaluable to her. She began to save money, intent on building power and was eventually able to acquire her own ship through a bit of money and some well played charmed betting and swordplay. She maintains her black market dealings, but now also takes to the seas. She is known as "The Devil's Smile" smile because people remember seeing it before she uses her influence (Command, Suggestion, or the ilk) to make them do something that made them take the fall for her. She'proven surprisingly slippery to pin anything on.
Finding herself naturally skilled at being a captain, and always able to find fools to work for her, she has excelled at pirating, smuggling, and other endeavors. She has recently acquired a second ship that she has put Errias in charge of. With the beginning of a fleet, her black market contacts, a beginning horde of resources.
