Kallista's Story
DM:
Your first mate is Wudaar and we have a personality for him.
You have a relatively undisciplined crew, but you're whipping them into shape.
Your keep your affection with Errias mostly to yourselves, but don't hide it from him.
You like to divide and conquer, and delegate instead of doing everything yourself.
You're slightly risk adverse, preferring a patient, cautious and guaranteed rise to power.
You're ready to expand your smuggling enterprise with more funds and subordinates.
Errias has a somewhat showy/fun personality that he can turn off to act business.
Your ship is named Nessus' Fury.

You're in the captain's quarters with your first mate going over the provisions you have. You'll be able to spend another 2 weeks at sea, but you have 8 days to get your ill-gotten cargo (Some leather goods you stole from a startup pirate group at one of the island docks.) to your contact in Waterdeep. This looks good to you and you have a bit of time to fill now. You walk out with your first mate onto the quarterdeck and see two things. First, your second mate and some crew members are getting drunk sitting by the main mast's rigging. Second, Errias (your lover and subordinate captain) is sailing up to along side your vessal and is trying to hail you. The first mate scowls at the drunken sailors and looks to you. "Should we go reprimand them or deal with Captain Errias first ma'am?"Kallista:
Kallista would ask First Mate Wudaar to handle the scallywags while she talked with Captain Errias. "Divide and conquer. And punish them how you see fit Wudaar."DM:
He gives a nod and you notice a twinge of a smile play along his jaw. "Very well ma'am, I'll see to it." He rests his hand on his sword, holds his head high and begins to walk over to the main deck. You head portside and wait as Errias navigates his ship alongside yours and matches speed. Errias walks up to the side and drops a plank betwixt the ships before walking over. He smiles at you and gives an overly flamboyant bow. "My dear Admiral Voss, how does the day meet you?" He looks up while still bowing and winks.Kallista:
"Better now that you're here, Errias." She says quietly enough to not be overheard. She gives him a small, quick smile but then puts her Admiral face back on before too many notice. Her volume increases back to a normal level. "What brings you aboard Captain?"DM:
"Better for us both!" Errias stands and drops the flamboyant stance looking at you with a bit more of a serious look. His sailors behind him are mostly busy dropping anchor, stowing sails, and so on. "We've returned from doing the reconnaisance you requested. We've found some potential targets, if you're feeling daring. First we found a scooner and caravel that appear to be merchant vessels. They're a bit smaller, but we if we can capture them without sinkin' them, then we could use them for smuggling." "On the other hand, we also found a Naumarkian frigate that we could try to pincer. If we could get that under our control we'd have some more direct might. A bit riskier, but it could pay off." A glint of a smile returns to his lips. "So, my dear Admiral... what's a fleet to do?"Kallista:
She takes a moment to think, closing her eyes for 10 seconds or so then says loudly (and in Infernal), glancing over her shoulder at her crew. "Well, if half my fucking crew weren't lazy, no good drunks, I'd say we take the frigate." She gives the drunken crew members a harsh glance as she yells the infernal words then looks back to Errias, her voice going back to normal but continues to speak in infernal to him. "Let's take the merchant vessels today. I'd rather have the for sure score and save the frigate for a day where my crew aren't making asses of themselves."DM:
He nods and respond in infernal. "Shitty crew are to be expected when we recruited so quickly. But I have faith that you and Wu' can whip them into shape... and replace those that won't." Back in common he says: "The merchant ships are to the North and moving East by South East. I think to Neverwinter. They're moving slow though and it shouldn't be hard to overtake. Fly your Naumark colors and let's get ahead of them and double back and we should be good. We'll then need to get them back to a dock for repairs and crewing up..." He continues to strategize with you for a few minutes before he perks up. "Well, that should do it. Here's to your continued success Admiral." and in infernal with a warmer look that you've come to love "I'll do you proud my shade, the world waits for you to pluck it." He heads back to his ship to ready his men and you turn back to find Wudaar having the men scrubbing the decks in between burpies and other exercise in punishment for every wood grain missed. This crew will be in shape yet.DM: Awesome. So we've learned:
