Alton City

Alton City was an independent sovereign city-state, known for its advanced technology and the integration of magic into its society. It was considered the pinnacle of civilization on the Continent of Renga. The city was ruled by a cyberocracy, where technology and automation played a major role in the city's government and daily life. However, around the year 3,500, The Great Explosion occurred, causing widespread destruction and wreaking havoc on the city. The resulting explosion created The Deadlands, a barren wasteland surrounding the city. The ruins of Alton City have later transformed into Glow City, a floating city built on top of a lake. The city still retains its original three-ring structure, with the outer ring being the residential ring, the middle ring being the market ring, and the inner ring being the royal ring. However, the residential ring is now mostly made up of shanty towns.

GOVERNMENT

Alton City's government was a cyberocracy, where technology and automation played a major role in decision-making and governance. The city was ruled by a council of technomancers, who were responsible for maintaining and upgrading the city's advanced technology. They also acted as the city's leaders, making important decisions and laws for the city. They were elected by the citizens of Alton City and served for a set term. The council had a number of sub-committees, each responsible for different areas of the city such as housing, infrastructure, and security.   The city's advanced technology also played a role in its government, with citizens being able to vote and participate in government decisions through virtual reality interfaces. This allowed for a high level of citizen engagement and participation in the city's governance. The city also had a strong law enforcement presence, with a dedicated force of robotic police officers and security drones to maintain order and protect the citizens.   Despite its advanced technology, Alton City had a strong emphasis on privacy and individual rights, with strict laws in place to protect citizens' personal information and freedom of expression. The city's government also had a strong focus on sustainability, utilizing renewable energy sources and implementing strict environmental regulations.

HISTORY

Alton City was once a thriving metropolis and the center of technological and magical advancement on the continent of Renga. Founded in ancient times, the city quickly became a hub for innovation and progress, attracting some of the brightest minds in science and magic to its shores.   As the city continued to grow, it developed into a cyberocracy, a government system in which advanced technology played a central role in decision-making and day-to-day operations. The citizens of Alton City were proud of their city's technological advancements and the benefits it brought to their lives, from advanced transportation systems to cutting-edge medical facilities.   However, all of this progress came at a cost. The city's constant experimentation with new technologies and magic ultimately led to the Great Explosion in the year 3500. The explosion destroyed much of the city and created the Deadlands, a vast wasteland filled with mutated creatures and dangerous radiation. Those who survived the blast fled to the outskirts of the city and formed the shanty towns that still exist today. Despite the disaster, the ruins of Alton City were later transformed into Glow City, a place where technology and magic still played a central role in the city's development and culture.
