The Red Marshes

The Red Marsh is the wetlands 12 miles south of Ecuadaroi that is most well known for the red tint that the marshes waters take during the spring and summer as the cranberries common to the bog fall into the water and give the bog a slightly red tint.   The land is under the dual stewardship of the Cnidari family lead by Prince Lucas Cnidari of the Couler Sea and the Luarent family headed by Count Otto Eduard Luarent.   There are four settlements in the red marsh each of which is lead by a Erbsalza or Erbsalzar:   Tourbiere: Erbsalza Fildreza Versicolor The small fishing hamlet is in the northern swamps of the red marshes. The hamlet is mainly known for the fact that it lies in the middle of a large quipper spawning ground. Some say that the water of the village is read not because of the cranberries but because of the blood of the animals that fall prey to the swarms of quippers.   Marais: Erbsalza Maberra Effusus The only other hamlet in the north of the red marshes Marais lies in a particularly fertile patch of the marsh that returns a great bounty of the many fruits that grow in the marshes. They are mainly know for the thicc bushes of berries that grow in the village. They are able to harvest nearly a ton of blue berries, black berries, raspberries and red and black currants every year and produce some of the best preserves in the sunset alliance. They also grow large numbers of wetland plants especially wild rice, onions, and garlic as well as many other forms of edible wetland plants which has a large impact on the hamlets culinary habits with the majority of the hamlet eating red meat very infrequently.   Vigne: Erbsalza Aunjra Hyemale The southern most hamlet of the red marshes Vigne actually lies out side the marsh itself on a sold patch of plains and acts as the bread basket of the marshes producing mainly sweet potatoes, a smaller wild variety of potato native to interavel and wheat on the three hectares of fields that the hamlet tills   Lis: Erbsalzar Nalzyr Marculatum The smallest of the four settlements it is better said to be a thorp then a true hamlet. Lis mainly acts as a lumber yard and carpentry hub producing furniture, tools and building materials from the quick growing drava birch that is harvested in the area.

Government

Prince Lucas Cnidari stands as representative of the lands in the Kings council and represents the lands at court. However, it well known that Lord Cnidari stands in deference to Count Laurent on most matters of local governance.
