Rhonian Manic State

The Rhonians have a built-in “manic” mode, where their energy increased to high rates, their strength increases, and they become highly resistant to bio weapons and physical weapons. They feel no pain or fatigue as they battle, which results in exceptional results on the battlefield, although is also results in death.
  The Rhonians first discovered this state from eating the flesh of the Kohna, a large reptilian-like predator. However, hunting these animals is dangerous, taking the Tolaan into the depths of the wilds of the planet. The Kohna’s thick skin makes a defeat near impossible, with many Tolana dying as part of the hunting party.
When the Tolana began training the Rhonians for service in their military, they questioned them about the Manic state on the battlefield, which caused the death of many Tolana during the wars. Eventually, the Tolana developed and gathered enough intelligence to figure out the connection to the Kohna. After several failed attempts, the Tolana eventually killed a Kohna. They gave the flesh to the RHonians before a battle and observed the battle state. They conducted studies on the remaining flesh, eventually synthesizing a drug they would use to give the Tolana to induce the manic state.
The Tolana hid the drug in the Rhonian’s food before a major battle. The Rhonians quickly entered the Manic mode, but used their strength to also turn against the Tolana and any being that was in front of them. The Tolana realized that not only were Rhonians difficult to control in this mode, but they also likely had deep-seated resentment towards the Tolana, resulting in direct attacks that were more rigorous than those against the Tolana enemy. The Tolana quickly disbanded the drug, with small secret research happening on imprisoned Rhonaians to see if different strands of the drug could have more controlled outcomes.
