a-Znzana

Purpose / Function

It's a dungeon. It's for the rebels. Anyone that commits a crime, or goes against the malik.

Alterations

The only alterations our very lovely malik made was the way he's sectioned off bits of it. So it's all underneath al-Qasr. It pretty much spans the entirety of it. He likes keeping criminals, what can I say? So he's sectioned it off to the different kinds of crimes. Petty theft and minor infringements and tax evaders are usually dealt with in their own villages. They have their own prisons for that. Murderers and rapists and the worst kinds of humans on the other hand, they get shoved into a-Znzana, where there is no light, because they don't deserve light. But the deepest parts of the dungeon, where the darknes is suffocating, are reserved for rebels who spread rumours about rivers and magic and beings with magical abilities and say things like 'the plague's not real.' Because they get the special punishment. All criminals are subjected to interrogation and torture from our friends the Hurras a-Sihr, but the rebels have their own special punishments. Because it isn't enough to just give them another dose of @al-Ilaj and let them be on their way. No, they need to have the rebelliousness beaten out of them. The hurras a-sihr want to see the light leave their eyes, want to see every fighting bone in their body broken, want them to hurt so badly, that even the sight of a body of water would give them tremors and shakes.

Architecture

It's always been there, since Adira's days. It's always had small, cave-like, rocky coves with bars keeping criminals in. The floor is dusty and dirty, covered in straw, and hardened and cracked by liquids spilling along the floor - all kinds of liquids. It's dark, all shades of beige and brown. Smells of rot and blood and feces and urine. Disgusting.
