The feud between the Slate and Indigo Mothers and the hostilities between their tribes finally boiled over. The Slate Mother led her Slatespawn as a war party right into the heart of Indie territory, slaughtering the Indies, their children, and their Mother.

They hated each other even before they crashed on Inom. The bossy captain, picked from the royal guard for her unwavering and unquestioning loyalty, crammed into the same small ship as the motherly, relaxed lead scientist. Slate had killed one of Indigo's underlings even before the crash.   Crashing did not help. Indigo found paradise on Inom, while Slate continued to cling to the importance of her mission, even as years passed and it became incredibly apparent that the ship was irreparable. That the one woman still alive who possessed the extensive knowledge required to rebuild the ship refused not just to rejoin the mission and get off this planet, but refused to even provide her knowledge for fear of the homeworld bearing down on Inom infuriated the Slate Mother. Here was a pathetic scholar who wished to be a queen greater than the queen of the blockheads.   And so Slate ruled this asset out, before punishing her for her treason. The Slate Mother personally devoured and digested Indigo whilst her Slatespawn sacked every Indie village they could find.
