Indigo Mother (a.k.a. Indigo)

She was a nice woman, when she was alive. She was Head Scientist on the FIEBE and compassionate to her underlings to the point of doing for them the kind of work they were there to do. She was also less than stellar at keeping her underlings in line when they misbehaved. Consequently, she wasn't very fond of the FIEBE's hardass captain, who would become the Slate Mother. That disdain turned to bitter hatred when, even before the crash, civility dissolved for a moment and the Slate Mother killed one of the Indigo Mother's scientists after resisting detention for one of Slate's somewhat-brutal public discipline.
As such, the Indigo Mother was one of the first to take her women into the jungle and establish a tribe where they'd be safe in this paradise, making the Indies the first actualized blockhead tribe. Then she found, to her utmost joy, that countless other sapient species lived here too, just waiting to be studied. Though she could not find a place for her Indies among any preexisting peoples (entirely because of the linguistic disconnect between blockheads and other species), they were able to observe much from the distance. This wasn't stellar, but it was what they had.
The jungle was chaos, though. Towns would fall off the map, shoo off the Indies, or one and then the other. Indigo dwelt in only one of numerous Indie villages; hers overlooked a town of byhxes. It was razed, and one of its children, whom we now know as Lahxa Indieskid, found her way into Indigo's care. Caring dearly for her new daughter and ever the opportunist, Indigo decided that it would be through adopting the parentless, the Indies could most readily learn about the speceis of Anicoja. They would hang out around threatened or ailing communities like carrion birds, waiting for an opportunity to raise their children as Indies. To feed their new children, the'd learn how to farm. To feed themselves, they'd hunt the now-prosperous Slatespawn.
But the Slatespawn were a bear not to be poked lightly. Things were going great for the Indies up until the Slate Mother came demanding both the Indigo Mother's assistance creating replacement parts for the ship and recompense for the lost Slatespawn. Indigo refused. Slate went to war and personally devoured Indigo whilst the Slatespawn massacred her tribe, forcing them out of the jungle and into the mountains.
Of course, the Indigo Mother can't vouch for herself, being padding on Slate's ass and all. Most accounts of the Indigo Mother come from the personal accounts of Beet-Red and the Indies who survived the massacres.

Personal history

Indigo was a smart kid, although too forgiving to the various bullies in her life. Wasn't until she was attending university that she figured out she'd have to fight back if she wanted peace and dignity. But whether shrugging off their harassment or defending her fellow scholars from their brutishness, she never failed to succeed in her schooling.
A bland life before Inom, but not everyone on the expedition was utterly fucking maladjusted.

Education

Went to a school to learn about space and all the sciences involved in travelling it, seeing as it was the nearest frontier that might deliver her kind from their dust-ball.

Employment

She got with the space program as soon as possible. She was a shoe-in for the FIEBE mission.

Accomplishments & Achievements

She'd thought joining the FIEBE crew would be the proudest moment of her life, but frankly, it was founding the Indies that brought her the most joy.

Getting eaten by the woman she hated most is certainly the worst thing that's ever happened to her.
