It was nothing short of a miracle. All of a sudden, thousands of prisoners, doomed to decades or even indefinite life rotting in a junkyard world's megapenitentiary, were set free in a slice of heaven with surprisingly few casualties from the wreck. The Barefoot Lowlands and beyond were theirs to explore. Moreover, the authorities never came looking for them! They had a second chance, to begin again... or to keep doing the exact same thing they were doing before they got arrested, but this time with aliens.
