Muffs District
Named for the idolized asset of the cult that dominates the district (Inom's Cradles), the Muffs District is among the better places to live in Thriving's Slums, if you're willing to tolerate the sounds of screaming infants and kids at noisy play. Still, the farms are close-by; home-gardening is strongly encouraged to both help feed you and lend beauty to the district; the children are cute; options are plentiful for birth control, delivery clinics, and orphanages; and Inom's Cradles both spend much of their income on the maintenance of the Muffs' public works and leniently keep the peace.
Demographics
Like any other Slum of Thriving, the Muffs District is extremely species-diverse and full of farmers and other simple workers. as lavish as the Tempel that serves as its centerpiece may be, most of its people are poor of money, but doing alright.
Government
Inom's Cradles more or less run the place, but mostly that just means maintaining the infrastructure and keeping the peace. Since they've got such a rudimentary set of tenets (don't hurt people unless to prevent more pain; do what people tell you to do unless it brings you or others pain), they basically just take care of the violent assholes. It's very lenient.
Defences
None but the durability of the houses.
Industry & Trade
The people of the Muffs District mostly farm, garden, or take handouts from the Cradles to stay fed. For pay, there's usually stuff to do either in the district or outside of it.
Infrastructure
Thanks to Inom's Cradles, the Muffs District got its running water and spots of electricity in before such things would have to be crammed in as an afterthought. The streets are paved, the streetlights are dim but light the night, and the rainwater flows into the gutters if not captured by the citizenry. The Cradles keep the district clean and in good repair.
The Cradles also operate a number of orphanages, birth control depots, and delivery clinics that any are free to use.
Assets
It's really mostly a residential district, but there's certainly valuable stuff one might steal from the Temple of Fertility.
Guilds and Factions
Inom's Cradles and the unaffiliated citizenry, really. The Cradles are liked and they don't try to convert people to their fertility cult so the unaffiliated are chill too.
History
The Muffs District was just a hamlet before Inom's Cradles arrived. As Thriving grew, the Slums grew, and thanks to the Cradles, they were able to define themselves as a distinct district of the Slums due to existing infrastructure.
Architecture
It's all wood and limestone, as much of the slums are. Some in the cubes of merfolk, some in the organic hives of xon, some in the octagonal towers of the zaobascai, but all in the local wood and stone.
Geography
It used to be rather plainsy, but there's no more trace of that. The Muffs District sits among the southeastern Slums of Thriving.
Natural Resources
The resources have been spent, save perhaps for that which lies underground.
