Demons in Ereschstag

General Summary

Stunned by the loss of Matilda, the group quickly jumped into action against the remaining zombie horde. Name Name lept through the flames, using protective magic to allow her to collect the body found near the demonic runes without too much harm. When she returned with the body she found a wedding ring that had tumbled out of his hand. Jacob didn't have any answers regarding the 'Slave of Lassan' comment, only that Matilda was one of the higher ranking members ofThe Fauchard, and he mobilized with Freda and Rolf against the zombies. Simon rode his horse Über to warn the city guard against the coming horde. The city seemed well-prepared and with the help of the cathars they were able to successfully defend the city.
While the others fought the zombies, Name focused her energy on tracking the demon that had killed Matilda. She located three total demons in the area: one just south of them in the city, one further south than the city, and one so far south she could barely detect it. The cathars warned the guard captain about the impending danger, but ran into issues when they discovered that the position was held by Name's rival: Henriette Shulz. Name and Henriette spat for a while, with Tammy Shulz making a guest appearance.
While Name, Freda, and Vesna left to discuss the dangers with the mayor (Franziska Shulz), Rolf and Simon decided to investigate the demon Name had detected in the city. After knocking on a few doors (and saving a child with some illness), they eventually met a man who claimed to be Moritiz Kasamir. Using his divine sense, Simon quickly discovered that this was the demon they were looking for. After a brief conversation, a scuffle broke out and the demon attempted to flee the city. The demon was able to escape the cathars, but thanks to Simon's warning, it was stopped by the city guard before it could leave the city. The city guards were finally able to defeat the demon, but not without a few casualties. The demon had been wearing the skin of Moritiz Kasamir, who the city thought had disappeared.
The other members of the party met with Franziska, and informed her of the demon within the city. Franziska told them of the disappearances of Moritiz and that they had scoured his house, but not found any clues. She said she would grant them access if accompanied by her daughter Tammy. On the way to the house Tammy told the group she had heard rumors that a man named Gunter had broken into the house and killed Moritiz. Gunter was also missing from the city according to Tammy. When they arrived at the house they saw the broken table and the signs of a struggle. They searched the house and found that Moritiz was a collector of unusual items, and in his house he had a small silvered sword, a censer, and another empty case.
They met up with the other cathars and inside the demon Rolf and Simon had slain, they found human and animal remains. There was no sign of the amulet. The group learned that Gunter had recently lost his wife and had been looking for ways to bring her back to life. He had been meeting with travelers and looking for anything that would bring his wife back by any means necessary. Freda went to get the body they had found in the graf and after presenting it to Henriette, discovered that it was Gunter. Vesna went over the badly burned body and found a ring on the man's finger, and a small parchment in his pocket with demonic writing.

When was the last time Simon saw his brother?

It’s been 8 months since he saw his brother. Their last conversation was him saying sorry but Simon dismissed him. He hasn’t heard any word and he’s assuming he’s just living his life.

Why does Vesna think that Simon's brother wasn't brought to justice for his crime?

His brother was to be sentenced to death but he was missing. Corrin, another inquisitor, was sent to find him. The case was too personal for Simon so someone else was sent. Simon's brother was never found.

How does Freda feel being assaulted by undead back in Kessig?

She was raged out and was too busy killing all the undead. She wants to keep killing them. She isn’t afraid because she has Sigarda. She feels untouchable.

How does Rolf feel about Jacob and what happened to Matilda

He has a lot of questions, Matilda had her own things going on. Now he’s wondering she was a one of or if this is a thing.

Name's Prayer

The Grusel has thrwarted me again! Am I not worthy of greatness Gisela? The glory that would have been cast upon me had I, The Demon Slayer, slain a Grusel? I know not the joy! What good is my faith? The church was the answer but maybe I was asking the wrong question.

• Name was able to summon a friendly baker spirit who provided health to the group.
• Freda provided the group a large keg of alcohol after meeting the local bartender. Freda promised the woman an interview with the Slayers.
• Gunter's wife died from a fever. A small boy Simon healed also had a fever.
