Wild Mage

Wizard archetype

There are those who believe that magic has infinite possibilities and can be shaped accordingly by those that dare to take great risks. These wild mages specialize in wild magic, embracing and sometimes influencing the wild magic effects that they create. For more information about wild magic, see the chapter about Spells.

Wild Knowledge (1st level): A wild mage gains a +2 bonus on spellcraft checks.

Wild Magic (1st level): A wild mage automatically adds the following spells to his spellbook: 1st level – Reckless Dweomer*
5th level – Chaos Shield*
10th level – Alternate Reality*

Chaos Blast (1st level, Sp): At 1st level as a standard action, a wild mage can unleash a flash of wild magic energy within 30 feet. This is a ranged touch attack that deals 1d4 points of damage + 1 for every 2 wizard levels he has. Roll on the table below to determine the energy type every time you use this ability. A wild mage can use this ability a number of times per day equal to 3 + his Intelligence modifier.

d6 Energy type
1 Fire
2 Cold
3 Acid
4 Electricity
5 Positive*
6 Negative*

* Positive energy heals living creatures but harms undead. Negative energy heals undead and harms living creatures.

Controlled surge (3rd level, Ex): Whenever a wild mage rolls on the wild magic table, he may roll twice and choose either result. The result cannot be rerolled through other abilities.

Wild Magic Zone (8th level, Sp): At 8th level, a wild mage can create a zone of wild magic around himself as a standard action. This zone has a radius of 10 feet per wizard level. Any magic cast within this zone is automatically affected by a wild surge. The zone is faintly visible and can be spotted with a DC 15 Perception skill check. The wild mage can use this ability for a number of rounds per day equal to his wizard level. These rounds do not need to be consecutive.

(*) These spells are listed in this book.
