City-State of Drekar

An old abandoned dwarven fortress that has been restored as a beacon of light against the orc hordes of Orcdell and the gnolls and goblin clans roaming southwards from the Great Divide. This fortress and its small community of humans, halflings and dwarves ensure the safety of the Azureglade and its inhabitants. Many times, the forces of Drekar have tried to purge the orc threat from the Orcdell, but unfortunately without any success. The orcs simply retreat to their holds in the Great Divide and call upon other forces to keep Drekar from advancing. Although the people of Drekar have grown used to fighting on the rough terrain of the mountains, they are no match for the orcs and other fell creatures that call the mountains their home. Because the northern pass is an important route to the desert and scrublands north of the Great Divide, the forces of Drekar have tried to keep the pass open, but recently the orcs have struck back and overrun the outposts on the mountains. So far, war and diplomacy haven't worked out a solution for the orc problem.

History

The City-Sate of Drekar has long been responsible for the safety and security in the Azuredale area between Umar, but asl well very proud of this fact. Year by year, the city expanded the territory it controls batteling with the fey, orcs, goblins, and gnolls on all sides. This expansionism also came to a hefty price and needed to import a lot of goods from neighboring city-states.   From 1102 till 1338 AC Drekar started the Orc Wars, after the City-State of Umar was unable to protect one of their own, diplomatic meetings failed, and the cost to fight off the neverending hordes of monster became costly. They decide to annex neighboring city-states to ensure a steady stream of supplies for the never-ending war.   Drekar left a competent fighting force behind and dug in, while a large portion of it's army marches on Umar, and in 1112 AC laid siege on the City-State of Umar. Unfortunately, the army was unable to break its walls or starve them out due to their massive stockpiles. On 1125 AC disaster struck as an Orc army on commanded of lady Cilicia, razed the city, and claimed its ruins. Drekars left the siege at Umar and hurried home in the hope of liberating their city.   After an intense guerrilla war with the orc, they tried to retake this city until 1138 AC, with dwindling resources, forces, and support the had to abandon any hope on retaking the city. Nonetheless still was also very costly on the Orcs and other savage races in the area who participated in this war.   The final blow to the city-state came in 1142 AC with the rise of the old kingdom of Azuraill, when eleven mages cast en destructive spell upon the city and completely blowing it off the map. Leaving the region major powers weakened.
