Shimmerlake

Shimmerlake, a freshwater repository, is the one remaining consistent source of unrifted Spellstone in the region. Divers from Longwell spend their days swimming in the lake to trawl the Spellstone from the lakebed. Although such journeys are perilous, the rewards are worth the price. That which is not accrued is pushed downstream, lost forever.
Some believe the bounty to be a gift from The Powers and many wade into the shallows here to 'see' the future or seek guidance. Other religious types are attracted to the natural wonder and preach their sermons from the shore.
Nothing sinister seems to lurk inside these waters although some say to swim in the lake curses one with bad luck. Given the source of the stream coming from The Shieldcrest Mountains the curse could be just as likely as the truth. In more recent times, claims of something disturbing the tranquil waters and rumours of a corrupted creature making its way into the water source which contributes to the main rivers in The Heartlands has been cause for concern.
