Nylas Edgerron
Beholder Nylas Edgerron (a.k.a. The Blue Devil)
Nylas Edgerron is an Elvish Beholder that lives in the 2nd District slums. He is a veteran in his field, and a seasoned mage. His preferred magic is the use of mind signs to create bursts of air to push people from cover or even walk on. He uses this ability to great success in his second profession, being the vigilante Blue Devil by night.
Physical Description
General Physical Condition
Physically chiseled with a bit of a weight streak as of late. He has a operator implant on his left temple that allows him to focus his mana more effectively.
Body Features
His skin tone is pale, almost blue in nature like most Elves. A majority of his body is covered in nicks and scars like most Beholders but he does have one right underneath his implant on his head that is especially noticeable.
Facial Features
His head is cut and sharp with a strong chin. He is often seen with stubble if not a full on beard when he is getting lazy.
Identifying Characteristics
Nylas has a few tattoos, most notably of which are the insignia for the Elvish goddess Irik who is in the nude and in a explicit pose. This one is found on his upper arm facing inwards, luckily because he covers it up as much as he can.

He has a dominant posture in most circumstances and a hardly shaken confidence.
Special abilities
Nylas focused in on one spell for most of his life. Only recently has he started to expand on it. The spell is to cause microbursts of air via Mindsigns. Using this, he can easily push assailants out of cover, to the ground or even off of ledges. He also uses it to some effect for transport, however the mana required for this is quite demanding and he has to use it sparingly. He is also quite proficient in Beholder basic spells as well as his specialized school of the Eagle spells.
Apparel & Accessories
His style is mostly convenience based most of the time simply wearing a black jacket with a white shirt underneath and black pants. He very rarely wears anything other than his combat boots for shoes. Always accompanying his outfit is his Beholder fold-out blade and his heavily modified Onyx PDW 3Va. The blade positioned on the back of his belt and the gun in its holster on his right hip, via magnet.
Specialized Equipment
He carries the Beholder basics when on duty including a Hard-light shield, personal echo-comm, a handful of small potions and a small amount of gas related bombs as well. His weapon is a heavily modified Onyx PDW 3Va, it has a laser attached as well as a thermal optic site and a larger magazine. He has also personally modified the stock with a hidden compartment of ammo that will automatically feed if a button on it is pressed. He also carries a standard fold-out blade with little to no mods besides a personal grip.

Personal history
Disavowed from his heavily traditional elvish family at a young age, Nylas has made his own way since he could remember. Taking great interest in self improvement out of spite, he became a shining beacon of growth. However, his prejudices towards other races stayed well into his teenage years and truly festered in adulthood leaving him a spiteful 20-something with little to no friends. Any psychologist would see that the racism stems from his father, a pureblood Elf who had Nylas out of wedlock with a human female. Because of this embarrassment, Nylas lived most of his life alone. However that didn't stop him from becoming a talented Beholder and a good partner to Toka Boshi. As his relationship with Toka grew, so did his empathy towards other races.

Albeit finding only one partner during his entire life that he stuck to, Nylas would probably refer to himself as asexual if anything. His attraction to any sex is often cut short via his own stereotypes and bigotry. In short, his hate fuels his asexuality.
Education
Nylas skipped most of formal school simply because he had no one telling him to go. But in his prime teenage years he enlisted in the Beholders and began the 3 year certification with them. He trained in the school of the Eagle under Instructor Beglon.
Employment
After graduating Beholder school and be given a partner he rose to the local ranks as a fierce detective. Him and Toka were an unstoppable team that earned a plethora of merits. As the Commandant tests loomed on the horizon for Nylas, he began to fall off of work. It seems here is where the alcoholism took root in his brain and severely undercut his career.
Accomplishments & Achievements
Perhaps his most famed achievement is single-handedly saving Council Member Varris's life in a massive Arachnae invasion in a construction zone on the higher levels. But he almost made headlines after talking down Beholder Wrex Lom, the Minotaur, from his disease ridden rampage, as well as when he killed a Gremlin Queen with Toka in District 15.
Failures & Embarrassments
His fall from grace was well heard among the Beholder ranks. Perhaps the only one to stay by his side during this time was Tokaboshi, but even he became increasingly distant as the years passed.
Mental Trauma
Nylas has a strong fear of heights that has prevented him from doing several jobs. But perhaps his main hang up is his alcoholism he seems to be stuck with. It seems to have stemmed from a job he completed years back alone. He was hand picked to lead a strike team into a slum center near the Maw to find a rogue magi who had recently escaped jail time. Nylas and his team tracked down the magi but before they could apprehend him he took off. Nylas darted with him and was the only one to keep pace with him. When Nylas finally found him the magi was covered in blood and holding a small boy in the center of a summoning circle. Before Nylas could stop him the man used his mana and fused the boy and himself together all the while bringing a demon through the portal to possess him. Nylas took on the threat alone and murdered the monster. He barred the door to the small building the fight took place and lit the place on fire, never looking back. It took weeks for the Beholders to reach him again.
Intellectual Characteristics
Nylas is a headfirst type of personality type with bravery and stupidity often balled into one for him. His ability with a blade and his magic make for a hard to stop combo, not to mention his in-battle perception. Outside of work he is a loner and hardly ever sees anyone besides his reflection.
Morality & Philosophy
Nylas is cold and demanding of those around him. Toka's talent is always pressed against filters with Nylas as he makes sure to keep him sharp. But overall Nylas has a soft spot for the weak and damned, especially elves, which is why he took to Del so much and thought of him as his own kin. Nylas is vindictive and sometimes cruel but he is always on the side of justice and finding it through any means.
Taboos
Nylas is deathly against drugs after the drug ridden romp from his father which formed Nylas to begin with. Elvish culture in general is very drug-heavy and it personally disgusts Nylas.
Personality Characteristics
Motivation
His motivation is seeing hard-working people on the lower levels stepped on and abused by the higher levels. Much of what his family does infuriates him o the point of spitefully motivating him. Another big point of inspiration is his young ward, Del.
Savvies & Ineptitudes
Nylas has an affinity for mechanical modification, as evident with his motorcycle and weapons. However he is severely lacking in any sort of out-side of work charisma. His shell he hides in is thick and often times impossible to crack.
Likes & Dislikes
Loves Pure brand vodka tonic as well as a strange love for film. He vocally expresses his hatred towards beggars but has never not helped them out. He strongly dislikes drugs of any kind.

Tokaboshi, his partner. Ellen Hurge, a human female whom was the only one he has ever dated. Del Brennan, a urchin that lived in his apartment building whom he took a liking to, even training him sometimes. Council Member Tarris, who has said multiple times that he owes Nylas something, but Nylas has yet to collect.

Although his mother has attempted to reach out to Nylas, he has yet to return her calls.

Horribly socially inept. Albeit confident while at work, his off-duty demeanor is that of a pariah. Not only does he have a hard time communicating his emotions but also lacks interest in listening to others speak most of the time.

Working on his bike is his main hobby but he is quite the cinephile and finding him at the local theater is not outlandish.
Speech
He has a classic elvish voice with an over abundance of gruff and anger in every word, when at work. Outside of work he becomes a quiet shut in.

Most if not all of Nylas' money has gone to helping the needy or the families of those he deals with as the Blue Devil. If not to them, it goes to modifying his bike and cost of living. He lives in a small plex surrounded by people of various cultures, with only 2 windows.
