Prince Carys Lefryn (a.k.a. Shorthand)

Carys was born with a malformed left hand. He has learnt to adapt well to one-handed combat, and loses himself to reading and writing. His disability has left him with limited respect from nobles and few friends, so he rarely attends social events. Instead, he spends most of his time in royal palaces. When travelling, he often uses unadorned carriages and always remains closed off from the world.
Some say Carys was cursed, calling him "Witchhand". Some say he is born of the devil, having been birthed in the witching hour in the dead of winter. Others suggest his malnourishment is a blight on the land and only when he leaves will prosperity return. As a result, he has kept his nascent magical power a secret from all but his sister, Bella. Because of the rumours classing him as a witch, he fears how the population would react if they knew he was a sorcerer. Another reason for keeping away from others is that his untrained magic can sometimes slip out if he loses control of his emotions.
Carys is loyal to his mother and father.
