Androu Profession in Ikaharin | World Anvil

Androu ('an.dɾɔw)

''Iaran! Iaran! Iaran! The best products are here! What we don't have is not worth having at all! Amulets for every occasion with me! Iaran! Iaran! Iaran!''
Ikaharin's merchants, the andreol are, to put it mildly, not the most popular bunch. Despite this, society would collapse without them and their services, so the elites generally allow their existence.

Their relationship with society

Popular opinion

Scammers

''Ew! I can already hear them coming with their fake smiles and greed...''
As the Ikaharinese take great pride in being self sufficient and think that making a profit off someone else's work is immoral, they despise traders. This feeling, though most intense among the elites, can be found across all social classes.   Due to this, all cities' laws heavily discriminate against the andreol, not even allowing them to spend the night within their walls. Thus, they have essentially been forced to live a life of nomadism.

Savvy people

''Oh, c'mon! You only hate traders because, despite everything we do against them, they are still richer than you''.
Definitely a minority, a few in the land don't have a negative opinion of these wanderers. They simply consider them people, who ''make up'' for their immoral deeds by offering the public a wide array of products which would otherwise be unreachable for them.

A vital role

''...But I kinda need a new pair of shoes''.
Regardless of their personal opinion about them, the vast majority of people realize they are necessary for the functioning of society.
