Cephid System

The Cephid System is the proverbial goldmine of the stars. A relatively empty looking part of the initial map drawn up by the Lerrmi surveys was mopped up by the later Deneb surveys, revealing a rather strange star system. A relatively bright red dwarf was sitting in the midst of a large gas and dust cloud nearby the Sera system, completely unnoticed. Through absorption analysis of the atmosphere of the planets, one of the ones in the so called habitable zone was deemed to have life on it, at least in one stage or another. Later, using ftl probes to the system, the Allenzin noticed immense materials located in an asteroid belt of the region. This spurred them into looking to colonize the region as a means to obtain wealth.   There are five planets of sizable mass to be considered planets, along with several dwarf planets. The closest is a tiny rocky planet on the cusp of being classified a dwarf, next is Cephid, a midsized rocky planet with a gravitatonal acceleration of about 6.7m/s^2. After that is the asteroid belt, containing several dwarfs. Finally are the two large gas giants, likely formed from the hue amount of gas nearby the system. Past those are the thick shell of the gas and dust that prevented Cephid from being seen initially. There are several dwarf planets, and a couple large bodies were theorized to exist out there.   An interesting fact: Very few stars can be seen at night on Cephid due to the cloud surrounding the system

Geography

Space. One of the further inhabited stars from Sera system, measured to be about 105.339 parsecs away via gateways, or 95 parsecs as the light travels. Connected via gateway to hub 2B which is connected to 1B and Colony 4, 1B is connected to the Sera System. Using current military grade ftl, it takes close to 14 jumps to complete, however with gateways, which have a maximum range of about 40 parsecs, it only takes about 3.   The area around Cephid is known to have the most prolific piracy and crime due to the specific laws and travel regulations around the area. In a similar vein, the Cephid navy is one of the larger ones due to their need to protect their trade, since it keeps the entire system alive.
