The Conflict

Prelude

After a total victory during the newly establish Icarian Imperium, Imperator Augustus, had a desire to expand his new domain beyond the reaches of Erira. He desired to conquer and rule the entire world. That would make the Icarian Imperium up to its intended name.

Battlefield

The war was wagged on two main fronts at the beginning of the campaign, that were the Erira-Oros Border and Erira-Amos Border. The warfare on both of these battlefields was done by used of tanks and mobile armies, which were useful in terrains of both the continents, that were mainly huge plains, meadows and deserts, with some large mountain area in Oros.
Once the fronts of Oros and Amos were closed, after five years of warfare, by defeat of both the Confederation of Oros and the Commonwealth of Amos, a third and fourth fronts were determined to be opened as Republic of Unora and Kingdom of Pheapica were attacked by Icarian Imperium. Ten years and millions of dead soldiers it took to the Imperium to defeat the two continents which were separating Amos, Oros and Erira by two great oceans.

Conditions

The conditions of warfare on continents of Oros and Amos, were the more pleasant ones. The huge meadows, plains and deserts were the best terrain for massive mobile armies of the Imperium. The large open areas with only a few mountain ranges were idea for use of tank battalions, of which the Imperium had plenty.
Pheapica and Unorian theaters were, on the other hand, something completely different. Pheapica was covered with massive and dense forests, swamp areas,valleys and and highlands respectively. Such conditions made it unable for the mechanized armies to talked a major rule during this campaign and so the line infantry and its auxiliary assets were to fight hammer and tongs no matter the cost. The Pheapican Campaign wasted for seven years and would cost lives of around six million soldiers, despite such massive losses ending with a final victory over the Kingodm
The Unorian Campaign was the most brutal and horrifying of all the campaign undergone during the Unification. The weather - perpetual harsh winter - was on the side of the defenders, who were very well adapted to it, and knew very well what should be expected and how should be acted on the weather. Imperials had no such knowledge at their disposal. Despite deployed forces of over fifteen million soldiers, they would get only about two thousand miles into the inland of the continent in time of three, before being stuck in a stalemate by the climate, resistance, and Lion from the North marching to south in order to stop the imperial invasion once and for all. In only three years of warring on the Unorain Front, fifteen million soldiers were lost, a and it seemed as if the Unification was to fail and be stopped forever.

Outcome

A new world-wide regime was establish. Dreams of world dominance of Imperator Augustus Clericus were achieved, despited the immense costs.

Aftermath

As the regimes of the Old World fell apart underneath imperial war machinery, even though the old continental government were mercilessly destroyed, elements of their military, civilian, economic and political institutions and factions loyal to the ideals of the Old World survived, and were determined to take back what was taken from them by the conquerer. These separatist elements from all across the five continents would scatter themselves on thousands of islands all across the planet, there they would rebuilt their lost societies, order and military in order to one day be strong enough to effectively wage a full-scale restoration-war against the Imperium. The separatists would become known as the Icarian Freedom Confederation, as they are a confederated government created from peoples of all five continents, who remained loyal to the Old World. They now, how a century (since the end of the Unification), had been wagging a guerrilla war of attrition again the Imperium. Their realm of thousands islands, became a world on its own. With its own fully functional government, institutions and armed forces, who area fighting a perpetual war. The surface of most of these islands became inhabitable because of them being bombarded by nuclear, chemical and biological weaponry, as well as Unora once was, and so their inhabitants are living in city-bunkers miller beneath underground. That lead to creating of absolutely unique society on its own.

Historical Significance

Legacy

The legacy of the Unification is visible everyone in the world of Icarus. that being a radioactively polluted Forge Cities of Oros, beautiful harmonic cities of Amos, rich and high-end-ish cities of Erira, slave cities of Pheapica or scattered small settlements, and concentration/work and extermination camps of radioactive, polluted and cold Unora.
