Ienora

Deep in the ancient Avoncaster Wilds of Ianua, you will find the almost-as-ancient city of Ienora (ye-nor-uh). You might not even notice you are in a city at all at first, as the majority of the buildings are built high up in the crowns of the majestic redwoods. Ienora is the birthplace of many a famed adventuring party, as well as the legendary Dragon Riders, a force of elite fighters trained in dragon riding.

This city is famous for its dragons, and they are almost as large a part of the city as the people in it. Many citizens of Ienora will keep dragons as pets, and as means of transportation instead of horses or mules.

The city is not simply built in the forest, as much as it is integrated into it. The trees of the Avoncaster Wilds are considered holy by the citizens of the forest, and are not to be chopped down like common weeds. Because of this, most people choose to build their homes in the branches of the redwoods. This also serves to provide pet dragons with more comfortable places to rest in the crowns of the trees, and to free the ground below for the many animals of the forest. The buildings are connected by suspension bridges and suspended town squares between the trees.
