Negative Energy Plane

This plane is extremely hostile to all forms of life and energy. Only the undead can travel with impunity here, and more powerful undead can harness the negative energy to attack the living with devastating effect.

Geography

The plane stretches on endlessly, a black mere of withering negative energy. A dim ambient light permeates the plane, but is more akin to "being able to see without a light source" than true light. Far above the marshy plane, dim red stars flit in and out in the firmament above.

Binding Sites

Great necromancy, beyond the simple raising of undead, can be achieved by means of creating a binding site, a shrine upon the plane that aids in the transfer of negative energy. These sites are perilous to create, as non-undead creatures quickly wither and die upon the plane, but once a site is formed remaining within it's bounds provides some degree of protection against the plane's effects. This protection lengthens the time a non-undead creature can be upon the plane.
