Hyrule

Created by

Hyrule is in limbo.   Several Hundreds of years have passed since the age of the Wilds. Calamity Gannon is long gone, as is the royal family that sought to disturb his power from beyond the grave. In an age without a hero or a royal family, several political factions vie for power over the region. Though war doesn’t seem imminent, tensions are still high, and many fear they will reach a boiling point if left unchecked. The world is changing and those unwilling to change with it are likely to be trampled underfoot.   This power vacuum exists due to the lack of a royal family, but also as a direct result of the apocalyptic storms that left civilization in ruins a few millennia ago. Without a hero or princess to protect them, the citizens of Hyrule found themselves completely helpless as nature caused more destruction than one demon ever could. Hurricanes and typhoons ravaged the east coast, reshaping the Zora domain and many of the mountains surrounding them. Massive tornados swept through the middle of the world, shredding the continent into 2 equal parts quickly tearing down any hope for a refurbished Hyrule castle. The continent’s ever-shifting tectonic plates reformed the land, creating new mountain ranges and destroying the old. This shift caused the ever-looming death mountain to erupt, torching the sky and the land with its anger. Storms of burning rock rained down from beyond the clouds, resulting in sweltering droughts, and the destruction of many forests and countless towns. Finally, months of torrential downpours caused endless flooding, washing the land of its memories like dirt from a sullied face.   These “Great Storms” permanently changed the climate and topography of the land. When all was said and done, key features were all that remained. Death mountain, the Gerudo Desert, and the Hyrule forest were left mostly unchanged. But key cities and towns had to begin rebuilding. The great Hyrule river, the tornado and the flood’s permanent badge on the land, now divided the continent in two. And with no royal family to lead the Hylian, society started over with only the history and memories remaining.   Several generations have passed since the storms ravaged the land. Few beings have long enough lives to remember the chaos the storms brought. But the tales are still passed down by those who recall. Now, 4 groups of nature worshiping zealots threaten to recreate the great storms' destruction again...
