King

A typically hereditary head of state, a king or queen is the head of a monarchist sort of government. He may rule either absolutely, as with Vulgar or Al-Barad, with the curtailing of nobles as in Evergnon or Vunk, or may be a mere puppet of a governor as with some of the Dominion’s provinces. Possessing a long and well regarded bloodline, kings typically trace ancestry to a legendary or even mythical figure, and therefore are often considered divinely or at least pragmatically approved to rule by their people. In some places, such as Xiphos and the centaurian nation of Ulan, he may even be considered a god in human form.

Different kings don’t always have the same justification, but most derive from being descended from great heroes among their people, or divine appointment by the gods. To defy a king, therefore is considered almost blasphemous in some contexts.
