Grandston

The City of Gems, Grandston was built in the side of Mount Granda over five hundred years ago. With great natural defenses and a wealth of natural resources, Grandstoj quickly came to dominate Hartstone as the dominant cultural and administrative centre, expanding through a mix of diplomacy, Bruges and sometimes violence. The Grand Duke, refusing to take the title of king, rules with a crown of emeralds, rubies and sapphires and has a diamond-tipped staff, sometimes used as a weapon due to being sharpened like a spear, passed down from generation to generation.

Demographics

Most of the population is human, though a notable Yamachai minority exists here, likely due to both people experiencing raids and attempted invasions by foreign powers, such as the Dominion and Vunk respectively.

Defences

As with the Yamachai isles, mountain dwelling yaks, goats and alpacas are used for transportation of military goods, though unlike there, donkeys and horses are used for battle alongside the notorious longbows known as Fingers of Heaven, with kineticyst tipped bows that release electric blasts upon hitting targets. They also have a feared mobile cavalru somewhat like those of Evergnon used to protect themselves. Infantry mainly consists of highly trained pikemen, heavily armoured and willing to die for their cause to protect their city and their people.

Natural Resources

Being surrounded by mountains and carved into the face of the largest, Grandston has quick access to a wealth of precious gems and metals rare across the world. This even includes the ancient and mysterious metals of kinetycist and darkflame, supposedly created by the gods themselves at the dawn of time. They are very guarding of the latter though, and so they even dip light coatings of kineticyst into their arrows to summon ‘thunderous blasts from their longbows, used to devastating effect when in battle.
