S23.0/JT - Guardian of Krezk Report

General Summary

Yamami, Yukio and Jiko accept the dark gift of Zantras. Exethanter then lets them rest up and teleports them to the village of Krezk. The party finds it deserted, with signs that the villagers hastily fled towards the building at the center of town. They then go down to the basement and meet a man shuffling around. They ask him where Akira is, and he leads them to a teleportation circle saying that Akira went through there and that they should follow. The party doubt his intentions and he suddenly attacks the party with a fireball. A fight ensues and as it looked like he was going to go down, he transforms into a Fallen Angel. Tsuji and Yamami go down, but Yukio lands a critical blow. The figure reverts back into a man and 2 people arrive to stop the party from actually killing him.

They introduce themselves as Taurau and Percival and explain that the man is Asmund, a friend. The two explain that they evacuated the village via the teleportation circle but had to leave Asmund behind. They rushed back to the building once they heard a commotion. Asmund comes to and apologizes for attacking the party, it seemed like he was being controlled by someone. He then gives Yukio the legendary Sun Sword that could defeat the lord of this land. They then bring the party to their evacuation camp and host a feast for them. Yukio is brought into the Sun Sword and meets Von Zalken, the current lord of the land. He recounts that he and his friends had defeated Strahd, the previous evil lord, but he somehow came back 3 days ago and attacked and trapped him in the sword. Yukio comes back to himself and informs the party. Asmund then teleports the party to their war camp. The party meet Saorise, who is co-ruler with Von Zalken and is preparing for a war against Strahd. The party tell everything that had happened to her and mentions that Von Zalken is trapped within the sword. Initially, she was distrustful, but Von Zalken, through Yukio, convinced her that the party are allies. She then bestows another legendary weapon to Yukio, the holy symbol that could help defeat Strahd. Saorise also relays that Akira was a long-time ally of theirs, but he was kidnapped 3 days ago and is likely to be in the castle. The party then grows concerned at the implication that Strahd might be an aspect of Akira and Mizuki tries to converse with him again. She asks if he is Akira, but concerningly, he gets cut-off before being able to respond. The party then rests up before the upcoming siege.
