S02 - Calm after the Storm Report

General Summary

After a day of rest, the party is called to Jun-Taichou's audience hall for a debriefing. She summons Reiji, Indie, and Jugen and questions them about their unlikely allies. Reiji and Jugen tell Jun-Taichou all that these newcomers had told Reiji and Jugen after the first attack, as well as how they arrived at Otorii Castle at such a dire time. After which, Jun-Taichou summons the rest.

Reiko, Sana, Kyo, and Jiko arrive at the Lady's Audience Hall after having breakfats at Jiko's ramen cart. There they see Mizuki and Yamami for the first time, two residents of the wall who were under Jun-Taichou's command when forces from Kuramoto attacked.

Jun-Taichou introduces herself, then asks the newcomers to do the same. After pleasantries are exchanged, Jun asks them how they got to Otorii Castle, and why they are here. They mentioned how they were all venturing northeast and from their respective settlements a portal created by the assailants took them to Otorii Castles doorstep. Reiko and Jiko stopped over at Yukiheiya village to enjoy the Hatsuyuki festival, after said festival, they followed a robed figure to an abandoned farm house with a underground hideout, while Sana stopped and looked for shelter at Otohama shrine, and from within the shrine, Kyo appeared seemingly out of thin air. Jun-Taichou found this perplexing and asked for more. What Kyo said next was something no one expected.

Kyo explained that she arrived at Otohama Shrine from Idai-kyo on a dragon that took her into Shinkai. What she described was the use of a Shinkai portal, a spell that only one man in Hinomoto's history was ever able to use. More interestingly, a number of people in the room, including Jun-Taichou, felt that Kyo wasn't telling the entire truth, prompting them to further probe and investigate Kyo. Kyo told the whole story, how she was in the capital when it started burning, when it was attacked by a masked force, when undead and Oni took the palace. And she escaped by the grace of the Empress.

Hearing enough, Jun-Taichou dismisses the party, and tells them that she will call upon them when they have fully recovered.
