The Making of the Shadar-Kai

After the underdark of Highrune had drowned in the great calamity, Irkalla lost thousands of worshipers. But the ones she was most fond of, were the Drow. So many souls came to visit her, as they lost any interest in Loleth, she promised them power over the material plane and failed. The black queen agreed, and she had now the power to became the new and only queen of the drow. She made a packet with the drow changing them from spider rangers, underground dwellers, who deem light as an enemy, to warriors who use the light's shadow as a weapon. And so The Shadar-Kai were born!   The fearful queens of the drow got punished for letting the other humanoids ruin and destroy the underarm. Thirteen of the most powerful priestesses were chosen and changed to an unageing animal, A Negpa. The reason for this chosen form is not just to bring low the priestesses, but to mock Enmerkar, the god of the dead, with a new undying creation.   The half living elf-half shadows of the shadar-kai are cursed. They will forever remember and dream about the day they all died. From all the races the Shadar-Kai are the most effect of the Calamity. To stop the visions, the shader-kai goes to the extream, looking for otherworldly sensations that will overcome their gloomy emotions and trauma of death. Some use self-inflected pain, or tattoo, scar, and pierce themselfs.
