Clothing Agaisnt the Cold

To keep warm in the harsh winter season, Highruneians had a new wardrobe made just to battle the cold. As the famous Dwarven saying goes "There is no bad weather, just bad clothing".

By materials like fur and wool, or by coated covers used to trap air and keep warm, they have been many tehcnics and ways for a humanoid to make warm. But the cultural influence of keeping warm doesn't stop just at heating, it is so important, that Knotless netting is taught from generations to generations, that winter clothes are heirloom or that it is used to show a person's rank.

The Importance of Nalbound fabric

Knotless netting is an important skill that many mothers teach their children, both male and female to do. In some villages and families the skill of nalbinding has been transferred from one generation to another. Although most men know how to nalbind fabric too, it is thought that not knowing how to nalbind mittens or socks was a shame to a human woman. Nalbound mittens are appreciated and they are also valuable. They have been used to pay war taxes, and compensations for church clerks who performed engagement and wedding ceremonies.
A slave who is kept warm, is a slave that can be sold to any home.

The Heirloom for the Winter

In wills, Coats and other fine and costly winter clothes are passed between generations, from man to woman or woman to man, the clothes would be done a size bigger than the original wearer after they pass they could be changed, and tailored to the new owner, but the tailoring was done in a way that could always be undone.

"This gingham might be worn but its clean and fits me right for winter" Said Ann, her blue weary of age eyes looking upon her child. Yorksha was not a girl any more but Ann will always see her that way "Mother I can make you a new one, this one is old!" "As I am, and we fit" "mother, the cold doesn't fit old people you might...look at all of this, its thorn to pieces!" "And look how lovely it fits me, You know who's this was?" "Yes mother..." "So you know that this is mine to keep as it will be yours, let's see if it fits" "No don't put that thing on me, Mother stops!"

Access & Availability
Any good tailor can make you fine mittens with fur lining or knotless netting socks. It's only a question of how much are you willing to pay for them. As good fur is rarer and harder to work on then wool or cotton. But unlike cotton or wool, fur can be taken at winter times. Because cotton blooms in the earth months of winter, and is sowed again only next summer, and because to keep the life stock alive wool cannot be taken. Fur pelts of wild animals are the most common material used in the middle of winter, but with added risks of going out hunting, the fact it traps warm air the best, and its fashion value, the product is still the most costly.
