The Frayed Thread

The Frayed Thread of fate, this concept became popular with the rise of the hero. It arose from the frequent coincidence of heroes (and villains) whose lives were found to have crossed many times without their knowledge or were in someway related in instigating events. The Frayed Thread is knotted and tangled with many intersecting and dangling stands. Those of any renown or importance will have tugged at the Frayed Threads strands.
