Osu

Osu is pure energy that all physical, non physical objects and living creatures possess in the form of Elements. Put simply, it's a life force and raw genetic content. Osu not only keeps everything alive, but the energy that is recycled back into the planets' core drives the spinning of the molten core. From there, it is slowly released into the earth, making its' way into the crust and into all things existing there, continuing the cycle of life and death.
Osu in its' pure form is dangerous to be in contact with. Its' fog-like manifestation carries the raw DNA of countless creatures. If a creature is caught in it, it will mutate in often horrific and unspeakable ways, and quickly go insane and melt into the ground, leaving only malformed bones behind. However, some creatures' genetic makeup are at times compatible with the mix of DNA they come into contact with, and they mutate intact and able to survive. This however, is a minor chance.
Osu from a creature often goes directly to the Source, the core of the planet. However, restless and malicious spirits that cling to their dimension stay on the surface, and don't feed back into the cycle. As more and more of these come into existence the less Osu there is for recycling and the planets' core. Without the Void elementals, these spirits would overpopulate and eventually starve the planet of motion and life. Void creatures devour spirits and release the Osu as what is known as condensed Osu, which looks like molten lava. This form of it is extremely deadly and it's to be avoided at all costs.
Osu may be harvested with specialized 'gray gems' that originate from the Schism, which draws out the Osu from any dead creature. Once it is filled, the gem then gains the element and energy that creature once owned.

Manifestation

Osu in its' gaseous form is a dark purple thick fog that is very heavy and stays near the ground. It manifests strongest when near bodies of water, as water is a natural conduit. Within the fog, there are Void creatures that prowl and feed on any unlucky creatures that get trapped or lost in the fog. These creatures often glow a molten orange, and oftentimes, you can see their glowing patterns leaping and dashing through the thick mist. The glowing orange liquid they spew is condensed Osu, and is much more potent than the gas form.

Localization

Large amounts of Osu often originates at a Hotspot, which is essentially a rift into the Schism. The Osu is leaking from one dimension into the other.
