Nice article, this is an interesting culture :D I wasn't sure about the conlang explanation at first, but the way you've done it work. It taught me what they meant by the end without having to check the tooltips more than a few times :p I like the way you use tooltips/variables for that explanation without the reader having to go search for it elsewhere, though that could also fit in the sidebar if you want.
Thank you :) I decided to explain it in such a way that the reader can learn to identify individual words in a compound, and try to piece together the meaning, much like they would in their native tongue. Like if I created the word: Rothound. A native English speaker would identify the words Rot + Hound and understand that the word is A Hound that is Rotten/Corrupt. Funny you mentioned using the sidebar, before switching to variables I actually did use the sidebar for translations, but it can create quite a large, intimidating wall of vocabulary.
