Shogunate

The Shogunate is the collective term for the High Lords and Lords that govern the various regions in Usilia. Each High Lord, also known as Daimyo, is hand-picked by the Shogun to fulfill his wishes without any compromise.
When a High Lord is appointed, a member of a special division of the Shogun's Army: the Hand is assigned to oversee him and make sure that the Shogun's will is followed. Though this member of the Hand never interferes with the region's political affairs, he is to be treated as if he were the Shogun himself. It is illegal for any High Lord to make any political decision in the Hand's absence.

Structure

The High Lord is free to appoint any minor Lords, Mayors or Representatives he wishes to help him govern the land provided he keeps them accountable for their actions. Provided the Shogun's mandate is followed he allows each Daimyo to oversee each region in whichever way they see fit.
The Daimyo is responsible for recruiting and maintaining his own military force. These men swear a lifetime vow to serve and protect the people of the region and to follow their (High) Lord's orders for the rest of their life, they are known as the Samurai. Should these men, or women, ever fail their Lord, they are considered dishonored and expected to take their own lives to protect their family's honor and their Lord's.
