Device

Description

The Threading Loom is any mechanical device capable of manipulating threads. A loom can range in complexity from merely being an amplifier to a human caster or be an entirely self-sufficient device. An Iohxin model are those of which were produced during the late 5th millenium until the early 7th millennium.

Utility

Looms are extremely versatile and multi-purpose devices. They can aid in combat, construction, agriculture, art, defenses, and much, much more. Production of fuel, water, kinetic force, etc. now all produciable on a near industrial level

Impact

We're going extinct. Replaced by machines.
— Grandmaster Seamstress

The human loom was engineered independently across the globe during the late 5th millenia AG. This led to a rapid mechanization of societies possessing looms. The quality of life rose while the laborious hardships shrank among mechanized cities. Looms displaced countless specialized occupations. What once took a lifetime for a seamstress to master, could now be achieved within weeks by a manufactured loom.
Looms also presented a danger. Devices that, if used by a skilled seamstress, could easily strike through a person's spirit threads. What once took extreme skill and ability now could be achieved by even an adept seamstress, manipulating another human's spirit threads. The easiest manipulation being simply cutting through the threads of the person, doing physical harm internally or severing spirit threads and leaving a person mentally handicapped or at worst braindead. Even with a loom, it require tremendous effort, will, and skill to take control of another human's spirit threads and operate their mind as if it were a puppet.
