Halation Syndrome
Halation Syndrome is a health condition found exclusively in the empyral race. It is a condition in which an empyral's bodily structural integrity begins to break down and destabilize.
Type I, Isolated
Isolated Halation Syndrome (IHSi) is the most common form of the ailment and is found among empyrals nearing death. There is no cure to IHSi, but the consumption of ebonic starberries slows the process.
Type II, Infectious
Infectious Halation Syndrome (IHSii) is exceptionally rare but extremely contagious. It is onset by contact with an halsixan flower.
Type III, Overextension
Overextension Halation Syndrome (OHS) occurs when an empyral overexerts their body to such an extreme degree past its functional capacity that its stabilized integrity will begin to break down rapidly. The process begins in specific overused regions of the body. If continual use is conducted, the decay will spread throughout the entire body. It is the quickest of the three types in terms of time between onset and dissipation. *Dissipation is when no structural integrity exists within the light of an empyral body.
Flickering discharges, measuring no bigger than a spark, begin occurring from regions affected.
Stage I
Flickering discharges increases in frequency, as well as affect regions, begin to expand.
Stage II
Flicker discharges cease as puffs of light begin emission off of the body. Blur begins in this stage. "Blur" is the rapid visually noticeable shape deforming bouts of vibration of entire regions of the body. In this stage, an empyral will begin to lose control over regions affected by blur.
Stage III
Blur becomes spread nearly through the entire body and becomes so severe that dissipation beings affecting limbs.
Stage IV
Dissipation begins to dissolve the entire body until nothing remains and results in death.

Stages
All three types of Halation Syndrom follow a five-stage process that varies in intensity, symptoms, and effective treatment. Stage 0Flickering discharges, measuring no bigger than a spark, begin occurring from regions affected.

Causes
IHSi is caused solely by the aging of an empyral. After millennia of existence, the body of an empyral will begin to falter and gradually lose its stability until dissipation. IHSii is caused by contact with an halsixan flower. The threads of the flower ensnare themselves onto the empyral's body. It gradually feeds off of the host's light until structural integrity is compromised and decay begins. IHSii is extremely contagious as even nearly an afflicted individual has high chances of the flower's threads to ensnare itself onto another host.Treatment
Ebonic starberries from an empyral tree can slow the processes of all three types of halation. However, only OHS can be cured via empyrean tree sap. A highly effective and safe treatment towards IHSii has yet to be discovered. The leading treatment is "light letting", allowing the light to be drained from an empyral's body that it snuffs out the flower. This method is extremely dangerous due to the fine line between killing the flower and killing the empyral. It is often seen as a last resort of treatment.Remove these ads.
