Lartyne
Lartyne, Lord of Kithald
Shield: Gold, a bear rampant vert
Motto: A measured step serves best.
Registry: Holy Oak, 653
Holdings: Kithald (Lord Larrys Lartyne), Stentil (Bailiff Sir Inglen Marren)
Liege: Yaronne (Deldbar)
Vassals: None
Greatclans related to: Clan Dariune (distant, cousin's wife from Athsic manor branch)
Notes: Clan Lartyne from Anvusen Hundred are a junior branch of the Lartynes from Grimruld Hundred, who hold the ancestral manor of Athsic from the Earl of Balim.
The two clans split when Sir Chorden Lartyne married the last living lady of clan Olvert and so came into possession of Kithald manor. The two branches maintain cordial, if distant relations, and only tend to see each other at the Earl's court or the Chelebin tournament in Olokand.
Lord Larrys, 32, is a quiet and shy man who suffers greatly from his plain, almost ugly, appearance. He dearly loves his wife Dara Tanhaler, 28, for marrying him despite his looks and dotes on her and their four children.
His mother Grenla scorns his wife, claiming she only married him to better her station in life, since her prospects of marrying into lands and title were slim as the fifth daughter of a minor lord. This has driven a wedge into their relationship and the rift between mother and son widens a little more each day.
Dara tries to cope with her harridan of a mother-in-law, but nothing she says or does finds even a shred of favour in the matron's eyes. Soon, a decision must be made or the family might break apart. Lord Larrys hopes that time will solve his problems, but considers packing his mother off to a distant nunnery, if she does not back down.
Kithald is a prosperous manor nearby the hundredmoot of Anvusen. Lord Larrys is a close friend of Sir Drevald Ercaunryn, 44, the bailiff of the hundred, who also suffers from the depredations of a vicious mother-in-law, the venerable lady Shilra Zena of Trezena manor.
The two knights spend many evenings together in the taproom of the “Lark and Nightingale” tavern in @anv, lamenting their familial problems and devising plans to rid themselves of their tormentors. Thankfully, these outlandish schemes fade from memory with the coming of dawn and the hangover that accompanies it. Each “lords' night out” is discussed fervently by the local gossips.
